Knight qualified andcompeted at The U.S. Open in 1971 andWimbledon in 1972. He lost to tennis legend Arthur Ashe in thefirst round <strong>of</strong> the 1971 U.S. Open. Knight was also notorious fora 107-game match played the year before tiebreakers were introduced.CHET CRILE1993 • SinglesCrile, hailing from Mercer Island, Wash.,became UW’s first All-American in over20 years and set the single-seasonwins record with 39 victories against14 defeats. That season wins mark stillstands and Crile ranks second all-time with 108 singles wins.Crile finished the season ranked 20th nationally and made theNCAA singles field. He was UW’s Pac-10 Medal winner in 1993and a three-time Pac-10 Northern Division Player <strong>of</strong> the Year.ERIC DREW1999 • Singles & DoublesDrew was part <strong>of</strong> a powerful duo at the top <strong>of</strong>UW’s lineup in 1999, as he and Robert Kendrickeach earned All-America honors in singlesand as a doubles tandem. A Woodinville,Wash. native, Drew was ranked as high as17th during 1999, his senior year, and finished 20th with a 23-8 record. Anunseeded Drew made a surprise run all the way to the NCAA Semifinalsin singles, becoming UW’s first semifinalist in over 40 years. Drew andKendrick made the Round <strong>of</strong> 16 in doubles as well and were 17-5 overall.Hanlin presided over UW’s first three appearancesin the NCAA Round <strong>of</strong> 16, beginningin 2001 when he went 19-6 at No.1 singles as a sophomore and reachedthe NCAA Singles Round <strong>of</strong> 16. Hanlinwas ranked as high as No. 11 in his career, and made the Round<strong>of</strong> 16 at all three major individual events. The native Englishmanwas a four-time All-Pac-10 Team selection and his 178 combinedsingles and doubles wins rank second on UW’s Top-10 list.ALEX VLASKI2003, 2004, 2005 • SinglesThe UW’s only three-time All-American, Vlaskiwas a dominant force his entire career, andholds the singles wins record with 111. Hewon the 2003 ITA All-American Singles Championship,the first national title for a Huskysince 1924. Vlaski was ranked as high as No. 2 in 2004, and finished eachyear ranked in the Top-25, and twice in the Top-10. The Belgrade, Serbianative made the NCAA semis in 2003 as a sophomore, was a three-timePac-10 Singles finalist, and three-time first team Pac-10 All-Academic.ALEX SLOVIC2007 • SinglesSlovic put the cap on an illustrious careerwith a remarkable run at the 2007 NCAAChampionships as a senior. Orginally an alternate,once Slovic gained entry into thetourney, he reeled <strong>of</strong>f four wins in a row overTop-40 players, including the No. 3 and No. 7 seeded players, to reachthe semifinals and secure his first All-America honor. Slovic holds theUW career record for combined singles and doubles wins, with 184. Hewas a four-time All-Pac-10 Team member and three-time All-Academic.ROBERT KENDRICK1999 • Singles & DoublesThe California native enjoyed a stellar sophomoreseason, as he and Eric Drew juggled thetop two spots and each earned All-Americahonors in singles and as a doubles team. Thepair made the NCAA Round <strong>of</strong> 16 and finishedranked 13th. Kendrick posted a 31-9 singles record and was ranked ashigh as No. 3. He reached the final <strong>of</strong> the ITA National Indoor Championships,losing to future star James Blake. He has enjoyed an impressivepro career, playing in all four majors and still ranks in the Top-100.
