6Texel Sheep Society - Special Sale Rules1 All Pedigree Sheep to be sold in guineas.2 Commission will be deducted at the rate of 5% on all pedigree sheep sold, Also 1%Levy which will be equally divided between the club and the society.3 The Auctioneers will pass from Sale any Female not receiving bids to the value of90gs; Rams 100gs.4 No dressing, clipping or the excessive use of dips on the fleeces of the sheep will bepermitted. Any sheep noted to be misrepresenting the Texel Breed Society Rules willbe reported.5 All sheep to be sold singly.6 All sheep will be identified with tags hung round their necks.7 All sheep to be from Maedi Accredited Flocks only.8 Sheep will only be accepted into the market and penned for <strong>sale</strong>, if they are accompaniedby a Ministry Certificate of Offcial MV Status which has been correctly completed.This certificate must be handed in when the animal/s arrive at the market.9 All sheep will be subject to a Veterinary Inspection. Any animal which does not reachthe Veterinery Inspection standard will not be eligible for <strong>sale</strong>. This rule will includesheep with Orf.All animals will be inspected by the Club’s Veterinary surgeon prior to the <strong>sale</strong>.TEETH - The front edge of all incisor teeth must make contact with the dental pad.Any animals with undershot or overshot jaws will be rejected.UDDERS - All udders will be inspected on female sheep, any signs of active mastitiswill be rejected. All females must be correct in the udder.LEGS - All Sheep forward will be subjected to a leg inspection, which will form anintegral part of the Pre-Sale Inspection procedure.LAMENESS - Any lame sheep will be rejected regardless of the reason.GENERAL HEALTH - Animals with any active infection including orf will be rejected.Minor injuries may be allowed at the discretion of the veterinary surgeon and anannouncement will be made at the time of the <strong>sale</strong>. The decision of the veterinarysurgeon appointed by the Society will be final.10 IDENTIFICATION: Tagging – all sheep must be double tagged with official Texel SheepSociety tags which comply with Government legislation. The vendor shall be responsiblefor the correctness of identity. Any tags which are tampered with, hand written/bearmarks, are faulty or illegible will be rejected form the <strong>sale</strong>.11 A female sheep which is not described in the catalogue or at the time of <strong>sale</strong> as in lambis warranted as not being in lamb. If within 14 weeks after the day of <strong>sale</strong> a female sheepwarranted as aforesaid proves to be in lamb, and within 14 weeks and 5 days afterthe day of <strong>sale</strong>, the purchaser gives to the auctioneer written notice supported by acertificate signed by a slaughterhouse manager or a veterinary surgeon or other competantperson, that such female sheep has proved to be in lamb then, if the sheeplambs at a date which proves it to have been in lamb at the date of the <strong>sale</strong>, eitherthe purchaser may return the sheep and her lamb, if any, to the vendor or at the soleoption of the purchaser, the vendor shall pay to the purchaser as and for ascertainedand agreed liquidated damages to cover all expenses, depreciation in value and otherdamages whatsoever a sum equal to 25 per cent of the purchase price of the sheep.12 All sheep to be guaranteed for fertility for which the vendor accepts responsibility.
