Chapter 3What Is Outer Darkness?In God, there is no darkness – only light (IJohn 1:5). When there is light, a personcan see and understand what is real. In thelight, they can see the truth. God’s word isthe truth (John 17:17). Only God has thetruth of reality. Jesus said, “He that hasears to hear, let him hear” (Mark 4:9 andJohn 12:40). Why did He begin with sucha statement?Darkness and Light“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.And the earth was without form and void; and darknesswas upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Godmoved upon the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1-3).In the beginning, only darkness existed. In that darkness,there was the deep (water). This water was like anocean covering a formless void. This was God’s firstbaptism. “Mikveh” in Hebrew cleansed the darkness.“Ex nihilo” in Latin means “out of nothing.” Godmade the firmament, the heaven and the earth (Genesis1:1).
