WARRANTYWARRANTYAll SCANLAN ® instrumentation is guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for ten fullyears. Any instrument which proves defective when used for its intended purpose will be repaired or replaced atno charge, at the sole discretion of <strong>Scanlan</strong> <strong>International</strong>, Inc. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties,either expressed or implied. In no event shall seller be liable to buyer, or any successors of buyer, for any claimfor lost opportunity, loss of goodwill, or consequential or incidental damages of any kind for any amount inexcess of the price of the product. Seller agrees to replace or to issue credit at seller’s sole option any productdetermined to be defective in materials or workmanship. Seller shall not be responsible for the cost of labor orcharges of any kind incurred due to product defect. Your rights under this warranty may vary from state to stateand country to country.SCANLAN ® Instrument Sterilization Trays: SCANLAN ® instrument sterilization trays are warranted for12 months against defects in material or workmanship.SCANLAN ® Diamond Dust Instrumentation: SCANLAN ® Diamond Dust jaws are guaranteed for12 months. If needed, the Diamond Dust surface will be restored at no charge during the 12-month period.Needle Holders: The use of suture needles larger than those recommended may result in damage and invalidateyour warranty. Please see The Suture Size Guide for SCANLAN ® Needle Holders for recommendations regardingthe use of suture needles with SCANLAN ® instrumentation. A copy of this publication is packaged with everySCANLAN ® needle holder and is also available upon request.Titanium Instrumentation: Different shades of blue may be found within the extensive line of anodizedSCANLAN ® titanium instrumentation. This is not a defect, but a phenomenon which occurs due to slightvariations of manufacture technique or alloy composition. This is a cosmetic characteristic only and does notcompromise the high quality of your SCANLAN ® titanium instrumentation.Scissors: Do not cut suture, gauze, or wire with scissors unless it was designed to cut those materials. AllSCANLAN ® Super Cut & Ultra Sharp ® scissors must be returned to <strong>Scanlan</strong> <strong>International</strong> for completerefurbishment and sharpening in order to maintain the unique cutting edge.Heifetz Clips and Advantage Bipolar Forceps: Product in the original packaging may be returned for fullcredit within 60 days domestic and 90 days international of invoice date. All used product will be consideredFIRM SALE. Warranty for materials and workmanship will be one year for clips and 10 years for Heifetz clipappliers.PLEASE NOTE: Instrument designs may change without prior notice. CARE & MAINTENANCE OF INSTRUMENTSTo maintain optimum operating condition and to protect your warranty of SCANLAN ® instrumentation, werecommend the following along with your general maintenance:Clean. Make certain that all blood and debris are removed from the instrument as soon as possible after use.Do not allow blood to dry on the instrument.Lubricate. After a thorough cleaning and rinsing, treat the instrument with an antimicrobial water solubleinstrument lubricant.Identify. <strong>Scanlan</strong> can provide safe and appropriate instrument identification marking system(s) upon request.Do not use a mechanical engraver to mark the instrument. If you engrave the instrument, the warranty will beinvalidated.Repair, Refurbish or Sharpen. Have this instrument repaired, refurbished, or sharpened only by a <strong>Scanlan</strong>authorizedfacility. Servicing by an unauthorized facility will invalidate the warranty.Sterilize & Store. Instruments should always be sterilized and stored in an “open” and unlocked position. Thisincreases the life of the instrument, prevents possible breakage, and is recommended by established standards.Protect. Be certain all delicate tipped instruments are covered with a device specially designed for instrumentprotection (such as SCANLAN ® Tip Guard instrument protectors) during storage and sterilization.Use. Instrument must be used for its intended purpose only. Improper use or care will invalidate warranty.CARE AND MAINTENANCEModifications. Modifications and repair of this instrument are available and must be done only through anauthorized facility.
