34LISMULLIGAN YOUNGSTOCK SALEON BEHALF OFMESSRS BASIL LAWSON & SONSNORTH CASSINGRAY, LARGOWARD, FIFEFOREWORDThis is the third annual reduction sale of the Lismulligan herd ownedby the Lawson family who farm near Largoward, Fife in Scotland. TheLismulligan prefix has been registered since 1965 when the first pedigreecattle were purchased from the Barbican herd of the late David Heenan.The ability to continually sell heifers from the herd is testament to thefertility, longevity and durability of the cows that make up the 150 strongBritish Friesian herd currently averaging 6561 4.30% 3.22%.HIGH ACHIEVING HERDOne of the outstanding cows in the herd recently won the Genus LongLife Cow Competition. Lismulligan Myra 27 has recently calved for thetwelfth time, has given over 100 tonnes of milk and is classified Excellent95 points. Myra is the dam of Lismulligan Mufasa an outstanding sire,with a number of his daughters featuring in this sale.Another star in the Lismulligan herd is Lismlligan Lucy 57 VG89 shehas been Grand Champion at UK Dairy Expo in <strong>2013</strong> & 2012. Sheis sired by Deangate Prince 2 and is currently milking in her secondlactation projected for over 9,000kgs herd dam was a ten lactation cow,classified EX92 five times and was sired by Terrington Legacy. Sellingfrom this much admired young cow is a very impressive daughter siredby Mufasa.Other recent successes have been noted at the bull sales whereLismulligan bulls have been in high demand. A number of bulls havesold for 5,000gns recently and over the last few years all their bulls havealmost averaged 4,000gns in the sale ring. Many of the heifers sellingare close relations to these much admired herd sires.
