But he answered and said to them, An eviland adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and thereshall no sign be given to it [three days and three nights],but the sign of the prophet Jonas [Jonah]. For as Jonas[Jonah] was three days and three nights in the whale’sbelly; so shall the Son of man be three days and threenights in the heart of the earth. The men of Ninevahshall rise in judgment with this generation and shallcondemn it: because they repented at the preaching ofJonas [Jonah] and behold, a greater than Jonas [Jonah]is here” (Matthew 12:38-41).
