(Please note that the information in this booklet can be subject to change)
If you are working in a country other than your nationality country (e.g you are French
but working in Australia) then of course it is better to apply to the Turkish Consulate in
Australia. In this case France is your country of nationality and Australia is your country of
residence.
The Ministry of Labor will review your application (this will take 2-3 months) then they will
give the authorization to the Turkish Consulate to give your work visa. As this process will
take at least 2 -3 months, we have to begin as soon as possible. First, you have to apply,
and then after 2-3 months you have to apply AGAIN personally in order to get your Work
Visa. If you will leave this country of residence in July, we will have to complete this
process before July. This means that we have to make the first application by the
beginning April, latest.
You should receive your Work Visa from the Turkish Consulate before you arrive in Turkey.
For this reason, arranging your summer schedule is very important. Please contact IICS
while you are making your travel schedule for the summer. When will you be here in
Istanbul? When will you leave the place that you are located in now? Accordingly we
can decide to which consulate you should apply.
3.1.3 APPLYING FOR YOUR RESIDENCE PERMIT
After you receive your Work Visa (stamped in your passport) you can come to Turkey and
begin to work. Then we will apply to the Foreigner’s Office for your Residence Permit. This
will take 10 days and can be done only after you arrive in Turkey.
3.1.4 REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS
You will be reimbursed for the Work Visa fee and the transportation fees to the Turkish
Consulate if the Consulate is not in the city. All other costs will belong to the teacher.
