1. I like fun pens, so people always bring
them back from spring training for
me. I get a lot of my information from
press releases.
2. I went with two of my coworkers to
Hershey Park. I hate roller coasters,
as you can tell from this photo.
3. I used to be a mascot, so I love
the Washington Nationals’ racing
presidents. The first time Teddy won
was on my birthday.
4. I’m obsessed with Chicago Cubs
manager Joe Maddon. He used to be
on every Friday, and I always edited
the interview. The Rays sent MLB
Network Radio a Joe gnome, and
they gave it to me.
5. When I was a senior, I interned in the
music department. When I finished,
SiriusXM had an opening for a parttime
board operator for baseball playby-play
in Spanish. I spoke Spanish,
I loved baseball, so I thought, “This
is perfect.”
6. I studied abroad in Madrid and I love
to travel. My boyfriend and I just got
back from Italy.
7. I was the mascot for the Newport Gulls
for five summers. At the top of the
eighth inning, I’d stand in the outfield
and kids would run from the third base
line to tag me while the PA blasted
“Surfin’ Bird.”
8. I have a closet full of holiday
decorations. It’s pretty gray in here,
so we need a little color.
9. They pay me to watch sports—which
I would do anyway.
10. I do an on-air feature on The Pulse
called “And You Thought Your Monday
Was Bad.” Basically I report a tragically
funny news story. It’s a fun way to
remind people that life isn’t so bad,
even when you’re driving to work on
Monday morning.
11. I love Derek Jeter. I was born and raised
a Yankees fan, and he was the first
player that I idolized. I don’t think I’d be
working in sports if it wasn’t for him.
12. I just got rid of my car and started
walking to work from my apartment in
Capitol Hill. It takes about 40 minutes,
but time flies by when I’m listening to
a good podcast.
