All Year Committees<br />

Room Parent—Room parents serve an important function s<strong>up</strong>porting the classroom<br />

teacher and organizing parent involvement. This position requires constant<br />

communication between the teacher and parents. 2 Room Parents per class. (Please<br />

indicate appropriate grade level)<br />

Year Book – An all-school project that includes photographing students and school<br />

activities as well as layout of the yearbook. Requires ongoing time commitment over<br />

the course of the year, especially in the Spring.<br />

Hospitality – This committee sets <strong>up</strong> refreshments for School and <strong>PTO</strong> functions such as<br />

the Holiday Program, Grandfriends <strong>Day</strong>, Ice Cream Social, New Family Coffee, Teacher<br />

conferences, and faculty meetings.<br />

Sunshine Committee - This school-wide committee provides s<strong>up</strong>port to BCD families<br />

and faculty that need assistance during difficult times and helps with significant events<br />

at BCD.<br />

Musical <strong>Volunteer</strong>s – <strong>Volunteer</strong>s will work with the Musical Directors as needed with<br />

costumes, scenery and rehearsals. Pre-School K-2 3-5 Middle School (Circle One)<br />

Committees August <strong>2012</strong><br />

School S<strong>up</strong>plies – Works with School Directors to acquire school s<strong>up</strong>ply lists, create order<br />

forms based on s<strong>up</strong>ply needs and work with a representative from a pre-packaged school<br />

s<strong>up</strong>ply company to coordinate the ordering, delivery and disbursement of school s<strong>up</strong>plies<br />

to individual classrooms in August before school starts.<br />

Fall Festival– This event celebrates our sense of community and welcomes Grandparents<br />

(Grandfriends) to school for a fun Barbeque Dinner and Carnival. This committee helps<br />

plan and set <strong>up</strong> the special carnival activities and other events for the annual Fall<br />

celebration. Set <strong>up</strong> Sponsorship Wristbands Prize Room Booth volunteers (Circle One)<br />

Committees Fall <strong>2012</strong><br />

School Picture <strong>Day</strong>s – Organize and coordinate the children on school picture days.<br />

Committees Winter <strong>2012</strong>/<strong>2013</strong><br />

Science Fair (Early December) – These volunteers help as needed on Judging <strong>Day</strong>.<br />

Book Fair – Have fun and help with our annual Book Fair. This is a weeklong event in<br />

early November. Please circle areas of interest: planning set <strong>up</strong> decorating<br />

checkout/sales clean-<strong>up</strong> charitable giving teacher book selections<br />

Box Tops – A simple fundraiser that involves the collecting and submitting of “Box<br />

Holiday Gift Card Coordinator –This volunteer coordinates the holiday gift card<br />

fundraiser, place orders and distribute cards.<br />

“Celebration of Cultures” (January) - This committee coordinates the All- School<br />

multi-cultural potluck event celebrating cultures within our own BCD community.<br />

<strong>Volunteer</strong>s needed to help secure entertainment, set <strong>up</strong> and clean <strong>up</strong>.<br />

Committees Spring <strong>2012</strong><br />

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – Coordinate a special luncheon honoring BCD’s<br />

faculty and staff members. Organize catering, decorations and serving. In<br />

addition, a special volunteer is needed to create and “End of Year” video with the<br />

help of the BCD technology specialist.<br />

Middle School Specific <strong>Volunteer</strong> Opportunities<br />

Capstone Lunch – This committee coordinates and sets <strong>up</strong> the celebratory lunch for 8 th<br />

graders and their families following the Capstone Assembly. Event is held the first part<br />

of April. Parents of 6 th and 7 th graders are needed to cover lunch and recess duties.<br />

8 th Grade Celebration – It is a tradition at BCD that the 7 th Grade Parents assist during<br />

this evening event that honors the graduating 8 th Graders. This committee coordinates<br />

refreshments, set <strong>up</strong>, and clean-<strong>up</strong> of the event that will take place in late May <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

LOTA : Love of Technology & The Arts<br />

LOTA is BCD’s annual gala auction and is the second-largest fundraising event for the school.<br />

Whether you can attend the auction or not, there are many types of volunteer jobs that could fit<br />

into your busy schedule. Please consider joining the BCD community in s<strong>up</strong>port our<br />

fundraising efforts!<br />

Pre-Auction Jobs:<br />

1) Solicitations (follow <strong>up</strong> with past donors for silent/live auction items and ask<br />

companies and individuals to contribute items)<br />

2) Mailings (help stuff and mail out procurement letters, save the date and<br />

invitations)<br />

3) Computer Input (help with the clean<strong>up</strong> of the database, input new family<br />

addresses. RSA is web based so you can work from home)<br />

4) LOTA classroom basket coordinator (give ideas of great basket themes and keep<br />

track of each grade)<br />

5) LOTA PR (write a weekly blurb in the BCD Buzz to keep the excitement of LOTA<br />

current, help proof read the catalog and help promote the auction)<br />

6) Live Auction PowerPoint (help create a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the<br />

live auction items to be shown)<br />

Event Jobs:<br />

1) Set Up (helps with the layout of the silent auction items)<br />

2) Silent Auction Prepping (help put donations into packages)<br />

3) Delivering the day of silent auction items
