All Year Committees
Room Parent—Room parents serve an important function supporting the classroom
teacher and organizing parent involvement. This position requires constant
communication between the teacher and parents. 2 Room Parents per class. (Please
indicate appropriate grade level)
Year Book – An all-school project that includes photographing students and school
activities as well as layout of the yearbook. Requires ongoing time commitment over
the course of the year, especially in the Spring.

Hospitality – This committee sets up refreshments for School and PTO functions such as
the Holiday Program, Grandfriends Day, Ice Cream Social, New Family Coffee, Teacher
conferences, and faculty meetings.

Sunshine Committee - This school-wide committee provides support to BCD families
and faculty that need assistance during difficult times and helps with significant events
at BCD.

Musical Volunteers – Volunteers will work with the Musical Directors as needed with
costumes, scenery and rehearsals. Pre-School K-2 3-5 Middle School (Circle One)

Committees August 2012
School Supplies – Works with School Directors to acquire school supply lists, create order
forms based on supply needs and work with a representative from a pre-packaged school
supply company to coordinate the ordering, delivery and disbursement of school supplies
to individual classrooms in August before school starts.

Fall Festival– This event celebrates our sense of community and welcomes Grandparents
(Grandfriends) to school for a fun Barbeque Dinner and Carnival. This committee helps
plan and set up the special carnival activities and other events for the annual Fall
celebration. Set up Sponsorship Wristbands Prize Room Booth volunteers (Circle One)

Used Uniform Closet –Organize and maintain the Used Uniform sales closet. Includes
organizing and arranging for Used Uniform bi-annual sale.

Committees Fall 2012
School Picture Days – Organize and coordinate the children on school picture days.
Committees Winter 2012/2013
Science Fair (Early December) – These volunteers help as needed on Judging Day.
Book Fair – Have fun and help with our annual Book Fair. This is a weeklong event in
early November. Please circle areas of interest: planning set up decorating
checkout/sales clean-up charitable giving teacher book selections

Box Tops – A simple fundraiser that involves the collecting and submitting of “Box
Tops” twice a year.

Holiday Gift Card Coordinator –This volunteer coordinates the holiday gift card
fundraiser, place orders and distribute cards.

“Celebration of Cultures” (January) - This committee coordinates the All- School
multi-cultural potluck event celebrating cultures within our own BCD community.
Volunteers needed to help secure entertainment, set up and clean up.

Committees Spring 2012
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – Coordinate a special luncheon honoring BCD’s
faculty and staff members. Organize catering, decorations and serving. In
addition, a special volunteer is needed to create and “End of Year” video with the
help of the BCD technology specialist.

Middle School Specific Volunteer Opportunities
Capstone Lunch – This committee coordinates and sets up the celebratory lunch for 8 th
graders and their families following the Capstone Assembly. Event is held the first part
of April. Parents of 6 th and 7 th graders are needed to cover lunch and recess duties.

8 th Grade Celebration – It is a tradition at BCD that the 7 th Grade Parents assist during
this evening event that honors the graduating 8 th Graders. This committee coordinates
refreshments, set up, and clean-up of the event that will take place in late May 2013.

LOTA : Love of Technology & The Arts
LOTA is BCD’s annual gala auction and is the second-largest fundraising event for the school.
Whether you can attend the auction or not, there are many types of volunteer jobs that could fit
into your busy schedule. Please consider joining the BCD community in support our
fundraising efforts!

Pre-Auction Jobs:
1) Solicitations (follow up with past donors for silent/live auction items and ask
companies and individuals to contribute items)
2) Mailings (help stuff and mail out procurement letters, save the date and
invitations)
3) Computer Input (help with the cleanup of the database, input new family
addresses. RSA is web based so you can work from home)
4) LOTA classroom basket coordinator (give ideas of great basket themes and keep
track of each grade)
5) LOTA PR (write a weekly blurb in the BCD Buzz to keep the excitement of LOTA
current, help proof read the catalog and help promote the auction)
6) Live Auction PowerPoint (help create a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the
live auction items to be shown)
Event Jobs:
1) Set Up (helps with the layout of the silent auction items)
2) Silent Auction Prepping (help put donations into packages)
3) Delivering the day of silent auction items
