It is a great privilege and honour for me to represent <strong>the</strong> peopleand Town Council <strong>of</strong> Kidsgrove. I can only say that I will carryout my duties to <strong>the</strong> very best<strong>of</strong> my ability and promote Kidsgrove in <strong>the</strong> best way possible”3 Retiring Mayor’s Address“I would like to say thank you to all <strong>the</strong> councillors who have made this year a great success,with a special thank you to Doris who has been a great help. We have been to many functionsover <strong>the</strong> last year and we hope that we have represented <strong>the</strong> Town Council well. It has been ayear that has seen a lot <strong>of</strong> events happening. The Victorian Market was <strong>the</strong> highlight <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>year and <strong>the</strong> formation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Town Promotion Committee with <strong>the</strong> Carnival, Beer Festivaland Brass Band Concert still to come. To finish I would like to thank <strong>the</strong> staff in <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficewith a special thank you to Jill for all <strong>the</strong> hard work that she has done over <strong>the</strong> past year tokeep me on my toes. So once again, many thanks to everyone”.4 Members paid tribute to <strong>the</strong> outgoing Mayor and Mayoress for <strong>the</strong>ir hard workthroughout <strong>the</strong> year commenting that it does not seem nine years since <strong>the</strong>y last held<strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice.A Special thank you was made to Doris for supporting Geff so well, making surehe was properly presented and on time, especially since Geff and Doris do not have1


21 The Chairman announced <strong>the</strong> resignation <strong>of</strong> Councillors Terry Fox and Mrs LyndaFox. Two vacancies for <strong>the</strong> Kidsgrove Ward were formally declared and will beadvertised accordingly.22 The Clerk gave an update on <strong>the</strong> current situation regarding vacancies. As this is two months earlierthan normal had it had thrown most councils into panic. Following numerouscomplaints a more relaxed timescale has now been <strong>of</strong>fered.
