AbstractThis project is to implement a simulator, in Java, for evaluating the AntNet routingprotocol.CuRS, the simulator implemented in this project is a discrete-event simulation testbedfor developing routing algorithm for wide-area computer networks. It was developed as amodified and extended Java version of an existing simulator, MaRS (Maryland RoutingSimulator)-Version 1.0. CuRS is more portable for different platforms, and it extended toinclude AntNet algorithm. It allow user to define a network configuration consisting ofphysical network, routing algorithm and workload. The user can control its simulation, logthe values of parameters, and save, load and modify network configurations. It alsoprovides performance to assist comparing routing protocols. But the Graphical userInterface is not yet implemented in this project. This is a part of work needed to beextended in the next phase.AntNet is an adaptive, distributed, mobile-agents-based algorithm for communicationsnetworks. It was inspired by recent work on the ant colony metaphor for solvingoptimization problems. I compare AntNet algorithm with Shortest Path First routingalgorithm (SPF) based on CuRS. Actually, we should compare more routing algorithms toevaluate AntNet algorithm. This is the work needed to done further.
