About UsAlbemarle Ballet Theatre enjoys continued growth in our sixth-year atour downtown Crozet location, as we build upon our mission to provide afun, safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for dancers. ABT studentsinclude beginners of all ages, budding dancers, future professionals, andlifelong enthusiasts.Our goal to offer the highest quality instruction at affordable costs fromthe finest teachers is fulfilled with our staff of trained professionals.ABT instructors teach with professionalism and enthusiasm, inspiredby their love of the art of dance. On this, we expand our program ofunique, exciting multidimensional classes that are designed for growthand enjoyment in dance.Our professional facilities include a studio large enough for staging and aStage Step sprung floor s. The second floor space – offering privacy andBlue Ridge Mountain views – is the perfect home for our school. Pleasevisit us at our location on the corner of Crozet Avenue and Three NotchedRoad on the 2nd floor of the historic Fruit-Growers Co-op building.The Studio for the Performing Arts, a 501(C)3 non-profit organization,directed by Sally Hart, shares space with the Albemarle Ballet Theatre.Their mission is to provide need-based scholarships to local dancers forselected programs with its Dancing Off the Streets scholarship fund.They also produce family-oriented and affordable dance productionsfor the Albemarle-Charlottesville area through its Live Dance program.Since beginning this endeavor in 2006, with the help of local businessesand community members, SFTPA and ABT have helped provide over$40,000 in scholarships and over $10,000 this past year.The Hart family began this dance project with a vision of bringingprofessional, affordable dance instruction and quality dance productionsto the Albemarle-Charlottesville area. They opened The Albemarle BalletTheatre with no outside funding in February 2005 with the purpose ofproviding dance opportunities for students of all backgrounds and skilllevels. Many of our students attend the finest summer intensive programsincluding American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey, Kirov, and Alvin Ailey. Manyothers just enjoy taking dance classes with us.
