SUMMER INTERNS
article by logan nolin
Summer is FINALLY here - along with our stellar
summer interns! For the next couple months, we
have the opportunity to host four Project Engineering
interns.
Avid runner and disk golfer ALEC JENSEN joins us
from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa where
he is double majoring in Business Administration:
Construction Management & Finance (with a minor
in Economics). Alec previously interned for a general
contractor in northeast Iowa as a superintendent
intern. Throughout his time at Russell, Alec will be
learning the ins and outs of various preconstruction
projects. Alec was born on the 4th of July and until
five years of age, believed the 4th of July parade and
fireworks were to celebrate his birth. He received a
crushing blow when he learned these activities were,
in fact, not for his personal enjoyment. Alec refused to
attend any 4th of July festivities the following year.
LUCAS BOYLE is currently attending Iowa State
University and is majoring in Construction Engineering.
Previously, Lucas interned with two Eastern Iowa
industrial electrical contractors. Lucas currently serves
as Captain of Iowa State’s Ultimate Frisbee Club.
While with Russell, Lucas will be working on Hamilton
Elementary in Moline, Illinois and Quincy High School
in Quincy, Illinois. When Lucas is not studying or
working, he enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, singing
karaoke in local hotspot known as “his car”, and
watching WWE on television. One of Lucas’ fondest
childhood memories is accidentally giving himself a
concussion after spinning in a circle and bumping into
another person during his 8th Grade Halloween school
dance.
When not traveling the globe, ALPER GUDER attends
Purdue University where he is pursuing his Master’s
in Construction Engineering and Management. Alper
received his Bachelor’s in Construction Engineering
from National Taiwan University of Science &
Technology, Taipei. Before joining our intern program,
Alper interned as a Site and Project Engineer intern
for a firm in Istanbul, Turkey and as a Project Manager
intern for a construction contractor in Taiwan. Alper will
be working on the Galesburg Silas Willard project this
summer. Alper enjoys swimming, weightlifting, hiking,
and is fluent in English, Chinese, and Turkish. While in
Taiwan, Alper won the Nationwide Chinese Speech
Contest.
MASON BISHOP attends Iowa State University where
he is studying Construction Engineering. This is his
first internship and we are excited to have him here!
While with Russell, Mason will be working on the OSF
St. Mary Clinic Remodel in Galesburg, Illinois. When he
is not chilling in the new cafe, Mason enjoys shredding
the guitar, fishing, swimming, and hiking!
