TOWN
AKA: Pix
13/New York NW
March 28 th , 1959-February 1984
Some added info on the Town theatre, built in
1908 it opened as the Masonic Temple. A very
elaborate building. It started showing movies in
1908-1919, took them up again in 1941 to 1952
and then again from 1959 to 1983 when it closed.
In 1941 it went through a remodel and re-opened
as the Pix. It reopened again in 1959 as the Town,
thus getting its final name of the Town. KB
Theatres took it over in 1982 and made 3 big
mistakes
1: raised the admission to $5.00
2: Single features only
3: cleared the auditorium after every show. KB
sold it in 1983.
The policy changed to themed shows, which sold
out but it lost its lease in 1984.
