Based on the requirements, targets and objectives Camco identifies two types of <strong>OCR</strong> solutions to fit on quay cranes: full crane <strong>OCR</strong> or basic crane<br />
<strong>OCR</strong>. Camco develops solutions for full crane <strong>OCR</strong> (BoxCatcher) and basic crane <strong>OCR</strong> (SideCatcher).<br />
SideCatcher<br />

The SideCatcher is a compact intelligent camera system specifically designed for taking pictures of the long container sides in cranes. It delivers a<br />
basic crane <strong>OCR</strong> solution<br />
A typically setup is based on 3 units on each sill beam. The camera unit has multiple 4 MPixels sensors as well as fix focus lenses. These lenses are<br />
focused on one of the 6 lanes. Every sensor/lens combination covers 2 lanes.<br />
Using fix focus lenses guarantees perfectly focused pictures, in depend of the lane being used. The camera units have also integrated LED light<br />
projectors with specific lenses to deliver the optimal light at a given distance (in function of the lane).<br />
The solution is very scalable as the cameras are intelligent, a known and proven concept for all Camco <strong>OCR</strong> products.<br />
Door detection is an option, it is based on detection of the door hinches in the long side pictures. This requires an extra set of camera units.<br />

BoxCatcher<br />

extremely accurate results.<br />
The BoxCatcher is a camera unit mounted on the crane infrastructure or mounted on a rail. It<br />
takes pictures of the container door or the container rear side. This solution is capable to deliver<br />
a full crane <strong>OCR</strong> solution.<br />
Internally it has two 12 Mpixel global shutter cameras, one focused on a single 20’ door/rear<br />
container surface (distance 5,5m), the other camera head is focused on a 40/45’ sized container<br />
(distance 2,5m). The BoxCatcher has also 600 Watt LED light projectors, focused with lenses on<br />
the 2 distances<br />

BoxCatcher has technology to make pictures of moving objects, it uses internally 2 cameras<br />
based on high speed global shutter technology. It catches the container door sides traveling at<br />
4m/s in front of the camera.<br />
The BoxCatcher can be mounted on a fixed position, on a service rail (with operational and<br />
service position) or on a dynamic rail (real time container tracking).<br />
With a dynamic rail the BoxCatcher is automatically positioned horizontally or vertically on<br />
the exact location to capture the front/rear of a passing container. It travels at 3m/s vertically or<br />
horizontally over a distance up to 36 meters.<br />
The BoxCatcher has technology to compensate the container sway and skew and also supports<br />
tandem moves.<br />

BoxCatcher Sideviewer is an option for the<br />
BoxCatcher. It’s an additional unit, placed on<br />
both sides of the BoxCatcher that takes also<br />
the ½ of the long sides of the container.<br />
