Using your green binThe green bin is for your recyclingIf you put items in your green bin that cannot be recycled,they can contaminate the entire load of a refuse wagon sonone of it can be recycled.If there are items in your green bin that we cannot recycle,we will not empty it. We will leave a sticker on your binasking you to remove them before your next collection day.Please tell us if you do not have a green bin.✔✗NoYes please• Aerosols (empty) – deodorant, cleaning products,hair products. Please check your bathroom and bedroom bins!• Foil – food containers, take away trays, soft foil(clean and scrunched up).• Food and drink cans (rinsed and dry)• Plastic bottles and bags• Other plastic packaging – types• Mixed paper – Junk mail, office paper, newspapers,telephone directories, catalogues, glossy magazines, envelopes.• Cardboard – Brown card, glossy printed card, egg boxes,toilet and kitchen roll tubes.Please DO NOT put your green bin waste in black bin bags – this can mean that none of it gets recycled.Thanks• Glass of any kind• Polystyrene• Duvets, cushions, fabrics• Plastic toys• Food waste• Garden waste• Needles/syringesThese must be disposed of in the yellowsharps bin provided, and returned to your GP6!Note: If you keep putting items in your green bin that we can’t recycle, we will makefurther contact with you. Using your black binThe black bin is for household waste thatcannot go in your green recycling bin/bagor brown (garden waste) bin.Heavy bins can cause injuries to our crews• If your bin is too heavy to move safely, or if the liftingequipment on the bin lorry cannot deal with it, we willnot empty it. We will leave a sticker on your bin asking youto remove all heavy items before your next collection day.• Your household waste must be contained within your bin – with the lid closed,or three bags (if you receive a bag service).• If you leave excess waste on top of, or near your bin, we will not collect it.• If you leave your bin lid propped open, or you leave excess waste, we willleave a sticker on your bin, asking you to make sure that in future your wasteis properly contained in your bin. In exceptional circumstances – such as whensevere weather disrupts collections, we will relax this rule. We will announcethis in local media an on our website.• We will make further contact with you if you keep putting heavy items in yourbin or if you keep leaving excess waste.
