The World's Leading Digital Petrography ToolPETROG TM is a petrographic textural and compositional analysis tool for the oilindustry, which can be easily configured for the collection of igneous, metamorphic, ore, biostratigraphic or coal data. PETROG has been designed by petrographersand users of petrography data, for optimum petrographic data collection and analysis.PETROG Feature Highlights* Fully motorised high precisionSteppingStage* Quantitative compositional andtextural data capture* Microporosity calculation formatrix and authigenic minerals* Editing and review of data* Ternary diagrams* XRD data comparison* Dictionaried multi-levelrelational compositionaldata entry* Relate image with reports andQC for each analysis pointNot all point counts require the detail available through PETROG. Theautomated stepping stage used by PETROG can also be driven independently from acomputer keyboard, turning the keyboard into a point counter with up to 94 channels. This is PetrogLite. Unlike PETROG, PetrogLite does not support a camera, and hence the entry level cost is substantially lower.

Attaches toall major POL microscopes in use for geologyThe SteppingStage can also be fitted to oldermicroscope stages, and even thesmaller stages fitted to earlier modelsFront and rear views of the Control box(17.5 x 11 x 5.5 cm)

Camera Not applicable for PetrogLitePETROG supports many leading digital video cameras, including the entirePixeLink range, the Leica DFC range, many QImaging cameras and some Nikoncameras. Our advice will depend on both the local support available and theoperational requirements, but typically we would recommend one of the camerasbelow.PixeLink PL-B873-CU2Mpx CCD CameraLeica DFC 295 CameraWe recommend a video camera, as opposed to a still image camera, for the fasterresponse, reducing the frustration of waiting for the image to catch up when refocussing, rotating the stage, or changing filters. The cameras we recommend are agood balance between resolution, providing sufficient resolution to print high qualitypictures for reports, and speed of response (refresh rate), but please bear in mindthat the latter depends on the speed of the computer as well as on the camera. Inour opinion these cameras provide sufficient image quality for petrographic analysisbut if you choose a higher resolution camera because you intend to also use thecamera for other applications, which require higher resolutions, then PETROG willaccommodate and use the higher resolution available.

AccessoriesAdaptors for small slides andretaining screwsMains power lead andAC adapterC-mount adaptor(if required)(varies dependent on camera andmicroscope in use)IEEE 1394 (Firewire) PCI card(if required)Located in custom-built, metallic-finish,foam-padded carrying case(27.5 x 27.5 x 14 cm)

Spacers or adaptors can be used to offset the slide from the metalworkof the SteppingStage and hence reduce the chances of clashes with themicroscope objectives, either during travel or when changing objective. There is also an adaptor for ensuring the arm properly grips a 2" x 1" (5cmx 2.5cm) slide; this looks like a PacMan (highlighted in white in the bottomimage), or 3/4 disk, and sits on the outer corner of a small slide, betweenthe slide and the sprung arm of the SteppingStage.
