Mrs. Creger enjoys running for recreation and fun, watching baseball, and especially readingto their daughter. As someone who is passionate about education and teaching, Kathy is excited about teachingat OLGCA. When asked what she was most looking forward to about teaching this year, shesaid she was excited to be able to share her faith with the children as this will be her first time teachingin a Catholic School.Welcome Miss Teerlinck! If you stop by the fourth grade classroom at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, you can meet the fourth grade students and their new teacher, Miss JulianneTeerlinck.Miss Teerlinck grew up in Orion, Illinois and graduated from Orion High School. She attended Black Hawk College and then graduated from Western Illinois Universityin December 2011 with her degree in Elementary Education. She workedas a substitute teacher at OLGCA on a regular basis in the spring of 2012 and appliedto the Diocese of Peoria to be considered for a teaching position. When summercame, with no word from the Diocese, she accepted a job working in daycare/preschool. She is veryinvolved with the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) program. The connection between her faith and her positionat OLGCA is seamless. She said “being here just feels right and natural.” In early August Miss Teerlinck wason vacation with her family in Costa Rica when the call came about a teaching position at Our Lady of Grace. After returning to the U.S., she checked her phone for messages and discovered that Mr. Turnipseed hadbeen trying to contact her to set up an interview. As it turned out, she accepted the position with only a coupleof weeks to get ready for school to start!Miss Teerlinck recently turned 23 years old and is the youngest faculty member at our OLGCA. Sheenjoys reading, photography, and scrapbooking. She also likes to cook - her “specialty” is chicken and broccolifettuccine. Mmmm.Miss Teerlinck said that one of her favorite things about teaching is watching a student have an“Aha…” moment and knowing that she is making a difference in that student’s development. She also sharedthat her own first grade teacher was an important role model for her and said, “I would be thrilled to be halfthe teacher she was”.Her fourth grade students are working hard to “earn marbles” in a jar for good behavior. If the classreaches their goal to get all the available marbles into the jar, a “class pet” (hermit crabs) will be adopted.Based on her energy, enthusiasm, and commitment, we can bet that Miss Teerlinck will make a bigdifference for many students at Our Lady of Grace this year and in the years to come.St. Anne Stewardship/Ministry Newsletter – Meeting the Needs of Our Parish

Follow Me To The LibraryJust inside the entrance of the main building of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academyis the school library. Seven years ago when St. Anne and St. Mary schools merged, their librarieswere meshed together to create a wonderful collection of books for our students. Over 5,000books in all genres encourage exploration as well as entertainment. Each week students in Preschool through 6 th grade have a scheduled library period, while the Jr. High students use it as needed. During these 30 to 45 minute periods, studentsbrowse the bookshelves in search of just the right book. Starting in first grade, part of each libraryperiod is spent learning library skills that will enable students to feel comfortable using anylibrary they encounter.Sylvia Standaert, OLGCA librarian, believes — “At Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy,we truly believe that LEADERS ARE READERS.”| |St. Anne Parish555 18th AvenueEast Moline, IL 61244ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTEDPRSRT STDU.S. PostagePAIDEast Moline, IL 61244Permit No. 141
