3Background• Worked with a <strong>NUS</strong> startup company calledPeekspy Pte Ltd (http://www.peekspy.com/)• Central <strong>Library</strong> piloted and launched the <strong>3D</strong>Interactive Map on 8 August 2008• Chinese <strong>Library</strong> <strong>3D</strong> map was launched in 19August 2009 and C J Koh Law <strong>Library</strong> <strong>3D</strong> mapwas launched in 7 September 2009.
4What is a <strong>3D</strong> Interactive Map• Applications <strong>of</strong> <strong>3D</strong> interactive map▫ <strong>Libraries</strong>▫ Real estate development▫ Shopping malls• <strong>Library</strong> application▫ Replicate library in 3-dimensional model online▫ Allows users to view and navigate virtually insidethe library▫ Interactive book search
5Objectives• Showcase physical facilities, services andcollections in <strong>3D</strong>• Help users to be familiar with the library• Allow prospective staff, students and visitors to“visit” the library• Explore library in a fun and interactive manner• Save time conducting physical tours & answeringdirectional queries▫ Central <strong>Library</strong> – integrate <strong>3D</strong> virtual tour intoorientation programme

Click on the location<strong>of</strong> the item in LINC to go to <strong>3D</strong> map
10Implementing <strong>3D</strong> Map• Vendor needs:▫ Updated floor plans▫ List <strong>of</strong> landmarks• Take photos• Give descriptions• Camera position – e.g. Entrance - where to angle thestarting point▫ Book Search• Number shelves• Shift collections (if necessary)
