Innovative offshore monitoring and control systemswww.strainstall.comworld classOffshore Berth Management Systems for Floating Storage & Regasification Units (FSRU)Using the experience gained from supplying jetty management systems for on-shore oil & gas terminals over the past 45 years,Strainstall’s FSRU integrated berth management systems have been designed to enhance safe operation and to assist the mooringmaster during ship-to-ship transfer operations. Our FSRU mooring and monitoringsolutions provide information on thespeed of approach, mooring linetensions, loading arm workingenvelope and environmentalparameters, which are all linked to acentral control system to providegraphic representation of all criticaldata with pre-set safety limits andalarms to aid ship-to-ship transfer.Strainstall’s system comprises thefollowing components:Quick release mooring hooks withremote release in configurationsand ratings to suit individualapplications.MoorAlert Mooring hawser loadmonitoring using Strainstalldesigned and manufactured loadmeasuring pins installed in quickrelease hooks and/or mooringwinches. To ensure activities remain within safeworking envelopes, loading armposition monitoring can also beprovided.DockAlert GPS, a vessel based GPSdocking system, with the base stationinstalled on the FRSU and a portablepilot unit taken onboard the incomingLNG carrier.Large digit displays can also beinstalled on the FSRU to display theapproaching speeds and distances ofthe LNG carrier, which the pilot can useduring the final approach. The system can include meteorologicaldata, with sensors to monitor the windspeed and direction, temperature, pressure and visibility, along withoceanographic data to monitor thesea-state, surface currents, deepwater currents and wave profile. All of the elements described can beintegrated using Strainstall’sBerthManager software and configuredto monitor, log, provide alarms andreport on all the sensors in thesystem. This data is displayed in the centralcontrol room and can also bedisplayed locally through fixed orportable units and transmitted to theincoming LNG vessel, allowing theapproach and berthing operation to bemonitored on both the vessels. In addition to the monitoring systems,Strainstall, as part of the James Fisher& Sons group of companies, can alsosupply floating fenders, davits anddeckside equipment to complete theship-to-ship transfer operations. We can also integrate other systems toprovide an Integrated ManagementSystem; components of which caninclude:StressAlert hull stress monitoring toprovide information on the stressesand moments in the vessel hull.Product monitoring using sensors tomonitor pressure and flow of the LNG.Ballast monitoring using sensors tomonitor the levels, flow, etc. of ballasttanks.Ballast control to provide control ofpumps and valvesPump monitoring to monitor the statusof pumps.Strainstall’s systems are designed toprovide years of reliable service in themost arduous of environments, including hazardous areas.
