These PC based systems are capable ofmonitoring multiple channels simultaneously and provide a broad selection of archiving and analytical capabilities.Single Point Buoy Mooring MonitoringStrainstall’s mooring systems protect the anchor system by ensuring that it is not overloaded and in danger of pullingthe FPSO or buoy from its anchor. This is particularly crucial when being used for oil transfer due to the increased riskof oil spillage.From basic stand-alone mooringload monitoring to comprehensive,integrated systems which monitorvessel draft and ballast, metoceanconditions, vessel loading andstructural stress, Strainstall offersturnkey capabilities.Load measurement is accomplishedusing specially designed Strainstallinstrumented load pins with tensionmeasuring capabilities exceeding500 tonnes. Manufactured fromstainless steel, with dual bridges,they have a design life of 25 years,and are installed in the anchor legsusing custom connection hardware.Redundancy is built throughout thesystem, which can be supplied withZone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous arearatings and certified by the majorclassification authorities includingABS, DNV and Lloyds Register ofShipping.The application software isdeveloped and maintained byStrainstall, enabling it to be tailoredto meet the customer’s exactrequirements.Systems can also be configured tointerface directly with other onboardmonitoring and contolsystems, which are installed by ourteam of experienced service andcommissioning engineers.A typical offshore FPSO tandemmooring system consists of chainand/or synthetic lines coupled withshackles or tension links. Theshackles and links are fitted withload measuring sensors (load pinsor load links) and connected byhard-wire or radio link to a masterunit to provide load readouts,alarms and logging facilities.Similarly, a basic system for a singlepoint mooring buoy uses load pinsincorporated into the mooring bridleto provide continuous real-timemonitoring of loads in the vesselhawser.The system can be extended toprovide additional information suchas product pressure and anchorchain loads, remote control foghorns and GPS units for both thetanker and the buoy, to monitortheir relative positions in order toprevent collisions and aid the tankerwhen mooring to the buoy.All equipment is designed to withstandprolonged use in harsh environments,and hazardous area certification isalso available.Strainstall

Our towing load monitoring systems give additionalinformation to towing vessel masters including a direct reading of tension in the towing hawser.Load CellsStrainstall design and manufacture a rangeof premium quality load cells, load pins,load shackles and load links.The disc type towing hooksincorporate a manual quick releasemechanism that allows the towingline to be instantaneously releasedunder full load, This ensures thesafety of the tug and personnel byabsorbing the energy in the ropedue to tension, thus eliminatingshocks and vibration.We can also supply remote controlsystems with either hydraulic orpneumatic release mechanism, andan accurate towing load monitoringsystem can be incorporated into thetowing hooks if require, providinginformation to assist safe passage.The towing load monitoring systemconsists of load cells or a loadmeasuring pin fitted to the disc typetowing hook, quick release mooringhook or winch, plus a readout/alarmwarning unit which can be set withoverload thresholds to suit thegauge of the rope or wire beingused for the towing operation.There are three typical towing loadmonitoring configurations:A single channel system with theload pin designed forincorporation into a swivel jointof a tugboat quick releasemooring hook.For double drum winches, withboth outputs leading to a singledisplay unit with a switch toselect the desired measurementchannel.For marine towing winches, withthe load being measured by loadcells in the brakestay.We specialise in supplying bespokeproducts for unique applications,including harsh environment andhazardous areas and have a hire,calibration and repair capability.
