You cannot overdose on vitamin D from thesun as the body stops making it if the levels in theblood become too high.Many of us are afraid of the sun due to publicity ofthe risks imposed by too much sun exposure, buttotal lack of sun can lead to a number of diseasessuch as rickets, arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes andcardiovascular disease, as well as depression.It is a known fact that sun burn leads to skin cancerbut not sensible sun exposure.The holistic approach of the naturist philosophygoes much further than just lying about in thesun and getting an all-over suntan. In a survey ofNew Zealand naturists, less than 20% said thattheir favourite activity was sunbathing. The officeworker who spends two weeks of his/her summerholidays at the beach would be at far greater risk ofsun burn than the hardened naturist.
