Welcome Lunch was held Sept. 9 at the<br />
Basic Sciences Education Building -<br />
West Lecture Hall on the OUHSC<br />
campus. Approximately 100<br />
students and faculty attended the lunch,<br />
which served as a forum to introduce<br />
this year’s FCMIG leadership, discuss<br />
2010-2011 FCMIG events and<br />
recognize students who participated in<br />
the <strong>Family</strong> Health Foundation <strong>of</strong><br />

Deadline For Annual OAFP Awards Is March 15, 2011<br />
Please submit a letter <strong>of</strong> nomination stating why this individual should be<br />
considered for this award.<br />
<strong>Family</strong> Physician <strong>of</strong> the Year: This physician provides his/her patients<br />
with compassionate, comprehensive and caring family medicine on a<br />
continuing basis; is directly and effectively involved in community affairs and<br />
activities that enhance the quality <strong>of</strong> his/her community; provides a credible<br />
role model pr<strong>of</strong>essionally and personally to his/her community, to other<br />
health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals, residents and medical students; can effectively represent<br />
the specialty <strong>of</strong> family medicine and the American <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Family</strong><br />
<strong>Physicians</strong> in public speaking; is in good standing in his/her medical<br />
community; and is a member <strong>of</strong> the American <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Family</strong><br />
<strong>Physicians</strong>.<br />
Friend <strong>of</strong> <strong>Family</strong> Medicine: This award recognizes a layperson for his/her<br />
commitment to family medicine in <strong>Oklahoma</strong>.<br />
Partner <strong>of</strong> the Year: This award acknowledges a Choice CME Partner<br />
representative and an OAFP physician who have shown an outstanding<br />
commitment and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism toward strengthening the ongoing<br />
partnership between family physicians and industry.<br />
Patient Advocate <strong>of</strong> the Year: This award is presented in recognition for<br />
outstanding commitment and the promotion <strong>of</strong> the specialty <strong>of</strong> family<br />
medicine for the betterment <strong>of</strong> the health <strong>of</strong> the people <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oklahoma</strong>.<br />
