Hans-gerd Lawrenz<br />

is new Port Representative for Hamburg<br />

Hans-Gerd Lawrenz has assumed the newly created role of Port Representative<br />

in Hamburg. Mr Lawrenz, 63, has excellent contacts in Hamburg<br />

and has worked for <strong>DB</strong> since 1964, and at the Port of Hamburg since 1980;<br />

most recently he headed the <strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> cargo centre at the port. In<br />

his new role he comes into contact with operators, handling companies,<br />

Hamburg Port Authority and politicians. “My aim is for <strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>,<br />

in the highly competitive environment of Germany’s biggest port, to improve<br />

a little every day,” says Lawrenz. Hans-Gerd Lawrenz is <strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong><br />

<strong>Rail</strong>’s third Port Representative, working alongside Port Representative<br />

North Dr Bernd-R. Pahnke, who is responsible for the ports in Lower Saxony,<br />

Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern,<br />

and Port Representative West Ummo Bruns, responsible for<br />

Rotterdam and Antwerp. ok<br />

<strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong> to be based<br />

in Frankfurt from 2013<br />

In spring 2013, <strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong> will move into a new headquarters<br />

right by Frankfurt Airport. The company will be<br />

based in the tallest building in Gateway Gardens, a business<br />

park opposite Terminal 2 that will be built over the<br />

course of the next two years. The management functions<br />

of the business units <strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong> Logistics and <strong>DB</strong><br />

<strong>Schenker</strong> <strong>Rail</strong>, which require a total of 450 workstations are<br />

currently spread across locations in Berlin, Mainz and<br />

Essen and will be housed at the site. The German national<br />

company of <strong>DB</strong> <strong>Schenker</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> will continue to be based in<br />

Mainz. ok<br />
