<strong>Principal</strong>’s Newsletter January 2011 Page 2FINAL EXAMSFinal exams are given in every course and aredesigned to cover the content objectives andskills of the entire term. Each exam counts 20%of the final grade. Exam periods are two hourslong. Students who are absent from examinationperiods will not be allowed to make up the examunless they present a doctor’s excuse, court order,or have prior approval from Mr. <strong>Gordon</strong>.Only seniors are allowed to leave their final examof the day as soon as they have completed it.They must, however, leave the building promptly.ALL underclassmen must remain in the examinationroom until the end of the examination period.NO EARLY DISMISSALS WILL BE GRANTEDDURING EXAMS. It is requested that parentsnot come to the school during the examinationtime to secure their student’s release. Come and findout what J.M.H.S. has to offer students in preparing for college and future careers. In addition, learn howstudents can earn college credit while in high school through dual enrollment, earn an industry certification,or state license before graduating from high school. Participants will be able to meet the CTE teachers, discusscourse offerings, talk with guidance counselors about various types of diplomas (including the new―technical‖ diploma), and talk with a Germanna Community College representative about dual enrollment.Light refreshments will be served.
