Several students alsostayed after school for a celebrationwhere they were served Subway,pizza, popcorn, and homemadedesserts, saw a presentation on the organization,and watched Ratatouille.Edith Hanson, organizer of thefundraiser and member of the FrenchHonor Society, said, “It was a success; we“Skip a Meal to Help Heal” participants gather after school.(Photo courtesy of Daisy Schmitt)had hoped to raise $300, but at the finalcount on Friday, we had over $435.”Aly D’Amato, president of theFrench Honor Society, added that it wasalso “a very big success in raising awarenessabout the organization.”Médecins SansFrontières, or Doctors WithoutBorders, is an organization whichwas founded in 1971 in Paris. In1991, Doctors Without Borderswon a Nobel Peace Prize fordelivering emergency aid to peopleaffected by armed conflict,epidemics, disasters, and exclusionfrom health care. Thishumanitarian organization helpsany country in need, and does nottake into consideration politicial,economic, or religious interests.“Skip a Meal to HelpHeal” was very successful in raisingboth money and awareness, butcould not have been done withoutthe help of Giuliani’s Bella Cucina andSubway for providing food, and Mrs.Borzain, Mr. Todzia and Mr. Pendleton forchaperoning.
