The Gospels contain more warnings about money and itsmisuse than any other subject,b. One in every four verses in Matthew, Mark, and Luke deals withmoney.c. One in every six verses in the New Testament deals with ormakes reference to money in some way.d. Almost half of the parables of Jesus refer to moneyin one way or another. He gives special warnings againstgreed.e. The first apostle to fall was Judas. Because of the love ofmoney, he sold Christ for silver coins he never lived to spend!John 12:4-8, 13:27; Acts 1:25; Matthew 26:14-16, 27:3-10f. The first sin in the early church concerned the giving of money.Satan entered into the scene of God’s glory on the early churchthrough greed, when the spirit of giving was on the people. Acts5:1-10.g. The sin of “Simony” is seeking to buy the gifts of God withmoney. Acts 8:14-24h. Two New Testament words whose Greek numerical value equals666, are wealth and tradition. Revelation 13:16-18. This also isthe number of the anti-christ, and he will control the world withthe power to buy or sell.WHAT WARNINGS DOES THE NEW TESTAMENT GIVEABOUT MONEY?I Timothy 6:7-10 - Money is not evil in itself; money is neither moralnor immoral. It is the LOVE of money which is the root of all evil.WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH ABOUTTITHES AND OFFERINGS?a. We are to bring our tithes and offerings to God’s storehouse.Malachi 3:7-12b.
