Sample courses per GradeSAMPLE COURSE PROGRESSION RECOMMENDATIONGrades 6 to 12We strongly advise that students enrol for only 5 Subjects per year. The requirements, dedication and the discipline needed to become a successful online student are onerous, with a studentneeding to study for at least 5 hours per week per subject for the full 32 week duration of a course. While facilitators andteachers are there to guide and assist you , the system of Assessments that need to be submitted on a weekly basis and thepenalties associated with the failure to do so, need to be clearly understood.Advisement: A typical course week is about 4–5 study hours a week per course, therefore, with 5 classes that means you may be at thecomputer studying 20–25 hours each week for a period of 32 weeks to complete your courses. This schedule leaves room for extracurricularactivities. In addition, individualised PACE charts can be generated to assist you in managing your time.SAMPLE SELECTION OF REQUIRED COURSES PER GRADEMIDDLE SCHOOL6TH GRADEMJ Language Arts 1MJ Mathematics 1MJ Comprehensive Science 1MJ World HistoryElective7TH GRADEMJ Language Arts 2MJ Mathematics 2MJ Comprehensive Science 2MJ CivicsElective8TH GRADEMJ Language Arts 3MJ Mathematics 3MJ Comprehensive Science 3MJ History (8th)ElectiveHIGH SCHOOL - Typically 24 Credits are required for a High School Diploma9TH GradeEnglish 1Algebra 1World HistoryEarth Space Science orPhysicalScienceElective (1.0 credit)Elective (1.0 credit)10TH GradeEnglish 2GeometryBiologyForeign Language (Level 1)Elective (1.0 credit)Elective (1.0 credit)11TH GradeEnglish 3World HistoryAlgebra 2Chemistry or Marine BiologyForeign Language (Level 2)Elective (1.0 credit)12TH GradeEnglish 4Algebra 2 or Advanced Algebra orPre-CalculusEconomicsElective (1.0 credit)Elective (1.0 credit)Elective (1.0 credit)* For advice on Subject selection, please talk to your School counsellor or your Virtual School Teacher or Facilitator.
