WELCOME TO AMEE 2015, GlasgowDear ParticipantLetter fromAMEE Executive Committeeand SecretariatWe’re delighted to be returning to Glasgow for AMEE 2015. Since our last visit 5 years ago,the Conference has grown substantially and we are now additionally using all theconference accommodation in the neighbouring Crowne Plaza hotel, as well as thelargest exhibition hall SECC can offer. This year saw more abstracts than ever before flooding into the AMEE office, and it’salways exciting to receive them and to read about innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment, some not-so-new topics that have been given a differentslant, and what is important in different regions of the world. It’s particularly good to seepresentations resulting from international collaborations that have been forged atprevious AMEE conferences.Your choice of what to attend may be more difficult than ever. We’ve tried as usual tomake the conference programme as user-friendly as possible, and the ConferenceApp, which has proved very popular at previous conferences, is again available to helpyou select sessions to attend and build your personal schedule – see the instructionson the inside front coverWe hope you will tweet about sessions you attend and share your views with others- please use #amee2015 in your tweets. Also please consider uploading your presentationsinto the MedEdWorld SIGS set up for the purpose, and add your comments as well – goto www.mededworld.org and click on SIGs from the left menu.Participants not able to come to Glasgow are joining us through AMEE Live - and sessionsin the Clyde Auditorium and Hall 2 will be live streamed around the world. They too willbe tweeting and joining in the discussions. We have planned a spectacular opening ceremony with plenty of food, drink and Scottishentertainment to start the Conference off on the best possible note.We hope you have time to see something of Glasgow and the surrounding area. There are several tours on offer, including a Scottish evening with ceilidh dancing. We have a large number of people to help you find your way around and to answer yourquestions – the SECC staff, AMEE staff, the Social Networking Group, the Worldspanteam, the Local Organising Committee, the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau staff and ofcourse the Student Task Force. So many people have given generously of their time in theorganisation of the Conference, and we are very grateful to them.We also thank the City of Glasgow for their support for AMEE 2015.We wish you a warm welcome to Glasgow and to AMEE 2015, and hope the Conferencelives up to your expectations.AMEE Executive Committeeand SecretariatNOTE:Photographers will be taking formal and more casual photographs throughout theConference which may be uploaded to MedEdWorld, Flickr and Instagram
