18 Michael Dillononly female poster artist, Rina Blumejtztein.Even though posters today are perhaps createdusing technology, they continue to guide us tothe next surprise which will become the nextmovie. This leads to the enormous pleasure ofsuccumbing to impulse and reflection which areprofound human advantage because it confirmsthat the movie poster is an optical, graphic andpoetic solution. This publication is possible thanks to the effortsof Raul Perez Torres, along with his newadministration, who always recognize the importanceof the democratization and capitalfunding for the film archive housed at the CCE.For instance, in the Ecuadorian imagination,Cinemateca Nacional has become the most aptguardian of both film and documented memory. The CCE Film Library has received thousandsof donations which it responsibly manages anddistributes in its position as research center. This publication, the first from Ecuador, isa highly satisfactory novelty not only for thefilm-makers’ poster donations, but also for thenational and international community that canaccess the virtual registry of fixed images of thenational cinema. It is indispensible because itfosters an inalienable, cultural right that our citizensagree should be gathered and validated byCasa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana. It is essential becauseit will touch those who decide on the levelof support that will be given for the recuperation, preservation and dissemination of imagesof Ecuadorian heritage and the level of supportgiven to its custodians, Cinemateca Nacional(Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana). Above all, it isa mandatory guide for Ecuadorian Cinema becauseit will encourage new research and thenotion of the extensive collective effort that theEcuadorian Cinema is in reality. We are especially thankful to the film-makersfor their poster donations, to Dr. MichaelDillon who took photographs and wrote thebook review, to the German intern NadineGordemeyer who assisted with cataloging theposters, to Cristina Moreno who took careof the last phase of editing, and to our colleaguesfrom the Film Archive and ResearchCenter of CCE’s National Film Library: FabiánCadena, Hernán Chinchín, Esteban Castillo,Milton Jácome and those who collaboratedwith photography.Wilma Granda NoboaDirectora Cinemateca Nacional de La Casade la Cultura Ecuatoriana
