The key elements which makeup Entuity’s architecture include:Uniform federated architectureSingle data schemaExtensible, agile processingengineCentral license server andflexible pricingVirtualized networkmanagement serverHighly automated, extensible, easily scalable architecture including an interfacethat hides the complexity of the underlying hardware and software. There’s no need to manually connect pieces or build architecture, it’s doneautomatically. Eliminates disjointed tool set integrations and associatedmaintenance. Each Entuity server includes a database for local data collection andstorage.Data collection that’s uniform across servers, extensive reporting capabilities, andeasy data export for use in other applications. The data schema for Entuity serverdatabases is identical which allows for effective distributed data processing andoptimized I/O load across all Entuity servers. Additionally they all can be presentedas one logical, global database for meaningful correlation. Unlike legacy nmsproducts where multiple loosely integrated products offer data that is fragmentedand requires labor-intensive practices to reap results, Entuity takes advantage of auniform data schema for fast, accurate report generation.Data, vendor, and technology agnostic, can rapidly accommodate newtechnologies/devices. More than just SNMP polling, Entuity also includes: syslog,LLDP, SONMP, flow QoS, IPSLA, SOAP, XML and other APIs to pull data from otherapplication managers.Dynamic, scalable license allocation capability and flexible cost structure to adaptto your particular business model.Takes advantage of virtual environments, including rapid addition of networkmanagement servers, as well as load balancing and failover.

Powerful AnalyticsEntuity has powerful analytics that process eventsand network topology data, including:• Spatial correlation for event managementuses Entuity’s knowledge of the logicalrelationships and interconnectivity betweenmanaged elements to determine root causeevents. Root Cause Analysis exposes whatproblems need to be prioritized so that serviceoutages and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) arekept to a minimum. Knowing what to work on firstin a complex environment requires knowledge ofthe inter-dependencies between networkingequipment, servers and applications. Entuity hasthis knowledge, maintained automatically in realtime, and uses it to provide meaningful informationfor decision making.Entuity Technical Overview, Page 2• Sequential correlation to analyze theTopology Maps illustrate both physical and virtual devices and aresequence of events---enables Entuity to determine continually updated.persistent and severe events presented in the webUI for tracking. These are the events that are most likely to cause service interruption.• Impact analysis---correlates network events with application services to prioritize event management.Actionable Information Delivery and ReportingThe Entuity web-based report builder creates actionable and graphically descriptive reports to keep bothbusiness and IT organizations aware of network performance results. There are 100+ out of the box reports thatcan be generated and the reporting engine delivers results in a variety of formats to meet most businessneeds—PDF, HTML, XLS, CSV, RTF, DOCX, XLSX, ODF, ODS and XML formats. Entuity reports can bescheduled for automatic creation and email distribution streamlining and minimizing the administrative overheadof report generation activities. There are reports specifically created for executives/CIOs/CEOs, businessmanagers and IT personnel with summary and details that leverage the data maintained in the Entuity databasein a format that these varied audiences can easily understand.Entuity reports have hyperlinks that can be used to drill-down for additional detail. Reports are categorized byfunctionalities that include: Activity, Administrative, Availability, Connectivity & Routing, Green IT, Inventory,Services and Virtualization Reports. The extensive network data captured by Entuity and visualized through its rich catalog of reports equips ITorganizations with accurate data for better network analysis. Additionally, customers can create custom reportsfor their particular use using a drag and drop web based facility. All these reports provide the quantitative resultsthat permit efficient, precise network management.Entuity Device Modeling FrameworkTo facilitate fast integration and management of new device types, Entuity is designed with a robust ModelingFramework. This framework can quickly map the characteristics of any device type or previously unknownnetwork object that has the characteristics of one or more of the traditional types of devices, such as, a routerwith switching capabilities or even load balancers. This ensures that new device types can be put undermanagement quickly for maximum coverage.

Entuity Technical Overview, Page 3Integration with Industry Leaders Adds More ValueEntuity can be seamlessly integrated with third-party industry leaders like Oracle Enterprise Manager, HPOpenView, BMC BSM Products and IBM/Tivoli. This creates a consistent way to share network infrastructuredata with application monitoring for a far-reaching management platform. In addition to SNMP trap forwarding, the event export API exports real time events in a highly configurablemanner. IT teams can effortlessly drill down on an event sent to third-party applications via Entuity and itscontext-sensitive cross-launching capability.Dynamic Thresholds to Baseline “Normal” – For More Thorough Alert ManagementDynamic Thresholding functionality to baseline network operational characteristics provides another level ofvisibility to normal operations. It allows IT managers to effectively prioritize and manage performanceanomalies—alerting only when in violation of the baseline. This reduces the operational expense ofunwarranted troubleshooting and unnecessary incident follow up.Entuity’s Dynamic Thresholds are calculated based on a running four-week sample for each relevantmonitored attribute. The associated event generation can be enabled or disabled on a per device basis, andoverridden at a port level in a similar manner to Entuity static thresholds. An absolute tolerance can bespecified for each Dynamic Threshold, generating alerts when polled attributes are compared against thebaseline values and are seen to be too far above normal for that hour of the week.Services Model to Represent DependenciesEntuity Services Modeling provides a facility to create collections of components along with a range of logicaloperators, to accurately portray complex dependencies. Defining representative services, IT can monitor andmanage how the network infrastructure is serving business needs rather than just the status of individualdevices. Service statuses are directly mapped to their effect on business. Operational anomalies, alerts oroutages of any underlying components are visualized against the Services, for insight into business impact. Also an “Applications View” allows users to view, add, edit and delete applications against a device while the“Applications Summary” dashboard shows details and history for individual application instances. NetworkOutage events are shown against the device that indicates any impacted downstream network devices, servers or applications.Flow Monitoring Adds Sophisticated TrafficManagementThe ability to monitor traffic flows within a networkmanagement environment delivers a necessary pieceof management capability for today’s bandwidthhungryapplications. Entuity offers two built-in flowbasedsolutions that complement its elementmonitoring expertise.
