For ABB this showprovides the perfect platform to share with you the depth and breadth of the products,systems and services that we bring to the oil and gas industry.Offshore Europe comes at a very challenging time for the industry. Across our exhibition stand,and in this magazine, we address many of the challenges that the industry is facing today,such as: reducing costs in a sustainable way; increasing production efficiency; managing latelife operations and decommissioning; sustaining improvements in safety performance.Despite the challenging market conditions the industry still needs to innovate and introducenew technologies. We are also highlighting some of these latest developments on our standsuch as: subsea technology and systems and integrated operations.When I reflect on what has happened during the two years since the last Offshore Europeit truly has been a ‘game of two halves’! September 2013 was at the height of the newinvestment peak in the basin and ABB was actively involved delivering systems to some ofthe largest new assets in the UKCS; ConocoPhillips Jasmine and Total West Franklin Phase2. During this time we also opened the ABB learning centre in Aberdeen. The facility providesan environment for customer workshops, it’s a place to explore new technologies and to learnfrom and collaborate with ABB’s engineers.Times have changed considerably since 2013 and we have changed to reflect the currentpressures resulting from a lower oil price. As the industry aims to drive down costs we haveworked even harder to ensure that all of our offerings are delivered as efficiently and costeffectively as possible. Just as importantly we have introduced new offerings to support thedrive for cost reduction and production efficiency improvement, that you can read about onpage 11.With some 145,000 employees in over 100 countries, our people are the key to our successand you can meet some of them at Offshore Europe. Each day we are hosting a series oftechnical talks, where our experts discuss hot topics such as cost reduction, flow assuranceand decommissioning.
