S-V• Subject-Verb• Consists of a noun, pronoun, or other nominal as thesubject of the sentence and an intransitive verb orverb phrase as the predicateExamples:The horses can swim.I don’t feel well today.


S-V-DO• Subject-Verb-Direct Object• Contains a transitive verb that takes a direct objectExamples:Who painted your house?Margaret tasted the tacos.


S-LV-PA• Subject linking verb predicate adjective• Contains a linking verb and by an adjective servingas a subject complementExamples:Toni looked beautiful.Amhir was brave.


S-LV-PN• Subject- Linking Verb-Predicate Nominative• Contains a linking verb followed by a noun servingas a subject complementExamples:Janet is the president of the club.Mr. Manatee is my stepfather."El Cid" is an epic.Amhir was a hero.

ANASTROPHE• Inversion of the normal syntactic order ofwords• Emphasizes the displaced word or phrase• Unexpected construction focuses reader’sattention• Can sound archaic or formalExamples:To the store went we to buy some bread.A puppy do you want for your birthday?
