Serving OceanographyMarket SectorsRS Aqua Ltd represents a select group of international manufacturers ofoceanographic, marine, environmental and meteorological instruments. From its base in Hampshire, in the south of England, the company’sexperienced personnel offer product sales and hire backed by calibration, spares, service, commissioning and training support. The company’s four main market sectors areOcean Research, Coastal Monitoring, OffshoreEnergy and Fisheries Research. However, severalmarginal markets are also served and it can besaid that any operation that involves water caninvolve RS Aqua.Ocean ResearchOcean research is viewed as being the company’score market, drawing upon the entire equipmentportfolio. Clients include research institutes, universities, commercial survey companies, navaldivisions, consultancies and even the media!Equipment ranges from laboratory analysersthrough to instruments deployed to fullocean depth for years at a time. Reliability andperformance are crucial within this market dueto limited deployment/recovery opportunitiescoupled with expensive ship time. A commonfactor for the RS Aqua product line is a reputationfor quality, robustness and build reliability. The result is a high level of performance in theharshest of environments with an impressivedata recovery rate.Offshore EnergyThe offshore energy sector – both Oil & Gasand Renewables - is primarily interestedin monitoring physical oceanographic andmeteorological parameters such as waves, currents, sea level and wind force for operationalpurposes. With increasing legislation andduty of care however, continuous real-timeenvironmental monitoring, leak detectionand marine mammal detection are becomingequally as important. For a decade now, RSAqua has been supplying Waverider buoysand WaveRadar sensors to national renewableenergy test centres and to offshore wind farmsfor survey, energy assessment, operationaland site monitoring applications. Current flowmonitoring equipment (single point or profiling),meteorological sensor stations and mooringrecovery systems are also regularly employed.Coastal MonitoringNowhere is the impact of climate change andrising sea levels felt more acutely than aroundour coastlines. Recent times have witnessed amarked increase in the acquisition of baselinedata sets relating to all aspects of the land/seainterface. RS Aqua products are being used togather routine wave, sea level, current, salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrient, pCO2, hydrocarboncontent, meteorological and other data sets.Fisheries ResearchRS Aqua now acts as the exclusive UK and Irelanddistributor for the Vemco/Amirix world leadingunderwater acoustic telemetry systems for fishtracking projects. Vemco lead the way with theirpassive and active tracking systems, fine scalepositioning service and the new high frequencyequipment for both marine and freshwaterapplications. This recent addition to the RSAqua portfolio compliments our range of waterquality sensors, fluorometers, CTDs, profilingbuoys, surface platforms, waves and currentinstrumentation. Customers in this sector includeall freshwater and marine fisheries managementagencies, regulatory bodies, central andlocal government authorities, environmentalconsultancies, offshore developers andaquaculture specialists.... and alsoSeveral marginal markets are also servedincluding Ports & Harbours, River & Estuarine,Military (Naval), Search & Rescue, MarineMammal Monitoring, Homeland Securityand Water Utilities. Products can range fromlaboratory fluorometers, through open sealocation beacons (radio, satellite and xenon flash)to data buoys for remote weather monitoring.
