The People Make the Park: Urban Gardens

During the summer of 2015, the Bronx Museum Teen Summer Program explored different Community Gardens in the Bronx. We had the opportunity to create a video based on interviews we conducted with people who play various roles in the gardens. Gardens are a resource to communities because they provide a place where people can garden and relax; they also bring the community together. Teen Summer Program explores the stories behind New York City’s public spaces. Teens interview Bronx residents, professionals, and artists in order to document what makes these spaces special. Working collaboratively with museum educators, youth create a diverse range of projects including audio podcasts, videos, signs, and publications to share their findings with a wider public.
