Tuesday March 10 th 2009<strong>PRESS</strong> <strong>RELEASE</strong><strong>Secondment</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Julian</strong> <strong>Hartley</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Hospital <strong>of</strong>South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust<strong>Julian</strong> <strong>Hartley</strong>, Chief Executive <strong>of</strong> Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHSFoundation Trust, has been seconded <strong>to</strong> act as Chief Executive <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><strong>University</strong> Hospital <strong>of</strong> South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust.UHSM has <strong>to</strong>day named Mr <strong>Hartley</strong> as its interim Chief Executive following<strong>the</strong> move <strong>of</strong> its current Chief Executive, Peter Morris, <strong>to</strong> Barts and <strong>the</strong> LondonNHS Trust. The secondment will run from Monday, March 30, 2009 untilFriday June 19, 2009.Mr <strong>Hartley</strong> has been invited <strong>to</strong> lead UHSM due <strong>to</strong> his reputation <strong>of</strong> managinga successful, high performing Foundation Trust. Meanwhile, his currentdeputy Aidan Kehoe will step up <strong>to</strong> become acting Chief Executive during this12-week period.Chairman <strong>of</strong> UHSM, Felicity Goodey, said: “We are putting <strong>the</strong> finishing<strong>to</strong>uches <strong>to</strong> our ambitious new strategy ‘Towards 2015’. Programmes arealready underway <strong>to</strong> change <strong>the</strong> way we work in order <strong>to</strong> ensure that wedeliver our triple <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>of</strong> safety, quality treatment and a first class experience<strong>to</strong> every patient, every time <strong>the</strong>y need us.“Any change process means a lot <strong>of</strong> extra work for <strong>the</strong> senior team, who alsohave <strong>the</strong> responsibility <strong>of</strong> ensuring that <strong>the</strong> hospital continues <strong>to</strong> deliver anexcellent service on a daily basis.
