President’s Welcome 

Welcome to “A Vintage Affair!” On behalf of 

the Junior League of Seattle, thank you for 

joining us for this important evening. 

For 88 years, the Junior League of Seattle 

has successfully met the emerging needs 

of our community by initiating cutting edge 

programs and providing trained volunteers 

to lead service projects, community 

education programs, and fundraising and 

advocacy efforts. Currently, we are excited to focus on educating 

and empowering women and children through community 

programs. Our three key Focus Areas include: combating 

childhood obesity, ending violence against women, with a 

particular focus on human trafficking, and working to better the 

lives of disenfranchised youth and the foster youth of Seattle. 

An evening as special as this would not have been possible 

without the tremendous work of our Premier Event Committee, 

led by Chair Caitlin Echelbarger, and her three amazing Vice 

Chairs: Anisha Ishida, Kim Jones, and Tina Quinn. Thank you to 

them and to the entire committee for their tireless efforts. 

The funds raised this evening will go towards supporting each of 

our community projects and training, helping us to continue to 

positively impact the lives of many women and children in our

Committed to Our Community 

Since 1923, the Junior League of Seattle has been making an 

important impact in the Seattle community. The Junior League of 

Seattle successfully meets the emerging needs of the community 

by initiating critically important programs and providing trained 

volunteers to manage them. Your donation to Raise the Paddle 

will help support the Junior League of Seattle and its community 

projects in many significant ways, for example: 

• Provide weekly art projects for children suffering from severe 

mental and personality disorders and clinical depression 

through the Healthy Futures Art Project. 

• Develop critical thinking, build communication skills and 

inspire creativity through interaction with original works of art 

through the Northwest Art Project. 

• Mentor teen girls in foster care monthly through fun and 

educational activities organized through the Junior League of 

Seattle’s partnership with Treehouse. 

• Empower our youth to make healthy lifestyle choices through 

Kids in the Kitchen. 

Please Raise Your Paddle high in the air to help the Junior 

League of Seattle continue to provide exemplary programs for 

our community. 

Monies raised through the 2012 “Raise the Paddle” will be used 

for the Junior League of Seattle’s community programs and 

projects, and will be designated between the programs/projects at 

its discretion.

Auction Guidelines 

1. Each item has a guaranteed purchase option at the bottom of 

each sheet. Guaranteed purchase means if you are willing to 

pay a premium price, you can automatically own that item. 

Simply write your bid number by the predetermined sale 

price, thus closing the item to further bidding. 

2. Announcements will be made prior to each closing of a room. 

The closing bid certified by an Auction Official will constitute 

the winning bid. 

3. All sales are final, and there will be no exchanges, refunds or 

extensions on items except where specified. In the event of a 

dispute, the decision of the Junior League of Seattle President 

will be final. 

4. All sales of wine are subject to Washington Law, including 

regulations of the Washington State Liquor Control Board. 

5. All travel reservations included in the auction are subject to 

availability and blackout dates may apply. 

6. No refunds will be allowed on travel packages for canceled 

tickets or accommodations. Air travel will be provided by 

airlines as stated even though prices may vary from the 

stated value. Unless otherwise noted, upgrades, stopovers, 

circle trips, standbys, and open returns are not permitted. 

7. “The Bank” will be open from 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm in the foyer. 

8. Payment in full is mandatory the evening of February 25, 

2012. You may pay by cash, check, VISA, American Express, 

or MasterCard. Items may be removed only by showing your 

“paid” receipt obtained from “The Bank.”

9. We request that all items be removed the night of the auction. 

10. Please pay attention to all conditions, restrictions, and 

expiration dates on items and services. Gift certificates may 

not include tax, gratuity, or alcoholic beverages and are not 

redeemable for cash. 

11. Dates of all trips and similar events must be mutually 

arranged with the donor, unless otherwise noted. All 

reservations should be made at least one month in advance. 

No refunds are permitted for cancelled, lost, or unused tickets 

and/or accommodations. 

12. The Junior League of Seattle has attempted to describe 

and/or catalog all items accurately, but all items are sold “as 

is.” The Junior League of Seattle neither warrants nor 

represents and shall in no event be responsible 

for the correctness of the descriptions, genuineness, 

authorship, provenance, or condition of the property. No 

statement contained in this catalog or made orally at the sale 

or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, 

or assumption of liability.

15. Each person issued a bid number (bidder) assumes all risks

Silent Auction Guidelines 

1. All items have bid sheets attached or nearby. Enter a bid by 

writing your bid number next to the bid amount you desire. 

2. You may skip ahead to the bid amount you want to pay. The 

next bidder must bid higher than you to be successful. 

3. Announcements will be made prior to each closing of a table. 

The closing bid certified by an Auction Official will constitute 

the winning bid. 

4. Designation of the bid you have written by the Silent Auction 

official as the top bid is a legal contract to purchase that silent 

auction item. 

Live Auction Guidelines 

1. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer is the 

purchaser. Your signature on the bid sheet constitutes a legal 

contract to purchase the item. 

2. The auctioneer reserves the right to settle any and all disputes, 

complaints, misunderstandings, errors, and sales at his 

discretion. The auctioneer’s decision will be final.

Vin du Lac Wines paired with dinner: 

2010 Grisant! Pinot Gris - A subtle green pepper nose gives way 

to mingling pear, floral and mineral flavors. Grapes bring light and 

crisp mouth feel, ending in a semi-dry finish. 

2010 Les Amis Riesling - Riesling’s green apple aromas and 

flavors, Muscat’s honeysuckle florality, and Gewurztraminer’s 

earthy spiciness combine with the predominately Lake Chelanarea 

fruit’s signature crispness and minerality to produce a 

unique, marvelously complex, off-dry table wine. 

2008 “Red Café” Syrah - This Syrah offers an inviting nose of 

dark fruit, earth and game, a classic fruit/earth balance on the

Dolores Rogers 

Emcee 

Profile: 

Dolores Rogers is an actress, voiceover artist 

and member of Seattle Radio Theatre. 

On stage she has played roles ranging from Lord Talbot in Henry VI 

part I to Florence Unger in the female version of the Odd Couple. 

As a voice artist, you may have heard her play Bowser Jr in the 

Mario games, “Vinnie the Gooch” in Backyard Baseball, and many 

other voices for Humongous Entertainment, such as Ernie Steele 

and Earl Grey. 

Her current voice project is the voice of “Billy in Billy Blue Hair” 

educational videos. She just filmed the role of the mermaid in the 

web series, “Ghost Sniffers” and has acted in several other films in 

the past year. 

She is honored to be emceeing for the Junior League.

Profile: 

Brian Goodwater works over 50 auctions 

a year in the Seattle and Portland areas as 

both a professional auctioneer and a bid spotter. Brian’s uncle, 

Jim Jungers, is a lead auctioneer with Stokes Auction Group, Inc. 

and his grandfather, Mike Jungers, is a retired auctioneer. He truly 

has auctions in his blood. It was a natural decision for Brian to 

continue on to auctioneer’s school after graduating from college 

and has been with Stokes Auction Group since 2004. 

Brian has experienced benefit auctions from both sides of the 

podium. As either an auctioneer or a bid spotter, he has helped an 

assortment of non-profit organizations achieve their fundraising 

goals: local public and private schools, Juvenile Diabetes Research 

Foundation chapters, regional medical centers, performing arts 

groups, Rotary chapters, and more. 

Feedback from Brian’s customers show consistent comments 

praising his personable nature, his ability to connect with the 

audience, and his charm.
