The Squeeze GameHave participants sit in a circle and joinhands. The leader then squeezes thehand of the person sitting on his or herright hand side.This person passes the squeeze on to theperson sitting on his or her right side bysqueezing his or her hand. The squeezecontinues around the circle until it comesback to the leader. The leader then startsthe squeeze again, this time challengingparticipants to squeeze as fast as theycan. The leader can time how long it takesfor the squeeze to go around the circleonce and encourage participants to beattheir record.Energizer GamesOctopus (10 minutes)Move chairs and furniture to the side of the room, or do this activity outside. Giveeach person a piece of paper and a pen and have lots of tape available. Choose oneperson to be your risk factor octopus and announce that everyone else has to movefrom one side of the room to the other without getting tagged by the octopus. If youare caught, you become part of the cumulative risk, and link arms with the octopus.To signal the beginning of each round (in which participants run from one end of theroom to the other), the octopus yells out a risk factor (e.g., drinking and driving) andparticipants must either run to the safety of the other side of the room, or must tryto write a protective factor that would relate to the stated risk on a piece of paperand tape it to their shirt. This protection allows a person to move freely about theroom, aiding others by providing a block, for example. (Participants need to come upwith a new protective factor each round to match each new risk factor announcedby the octopus.)
