History
Within close distance to the city centre we are offering you a truly unique experience. Our
building is historical dating back to 1890 and was created by the Architect A W Bergström.
When it opened it became the most modern and largest steam-driven mill in Scandinavia and
was named Saltsjöqvarn. The first mill laboratory in Scandinavia was also established here in
1909. The quay by Saltsjöqvarn is also well know and was created by the Landscape Architect
Thorbjörn Andersson.
The Hotel
In 2007 the careful restoration of the listed building commenced and the original exterior
has been kept whereas the mill has been given a brand new interior. The combination of the
historical building, modern design and architecture the hotel opened in February 2010 and
became the new flagship in the Elite Hotels of Sweden group. The hotel offers 186 tastefully
decorated accommodation rooms and suites, 13 conference and meeting rooms including
the largest one for 400 people. In beginning of September 2012 we are opening “Sturebadet
Marina Tower”, our brand new Spa & Fitness center with Turkish Hammam, Sauna, GYM &
Pool where the possibility of membership is offered. With its beautiful and harmonic location
by the water the hotel offers easy access to the city centre by boat, the tram Saltsjöbanan,
busses or why not take a walk by the water into the city centre. We are wishing you a warm
