THE ASSESSMENT BOOKLETThis assessment booklet has been designed toallow students and staff to monitor individuals’ progress in PEand sport throughout key stage 3. Students are asked to planstrategies and targets to help them achieve success in everyactivity undertaken. Likewise they will be expected to evaluatetheir achievements and link these to future planningstatements.After each block of activity, students will be assessed on theirlevels of effort and attainment in conjunction with the markingscheme set out in the booklet. A written test will accompanyeach practical activity and these will be marked out of amaximum of ten. Students will also be required to assessthemselves in each criterion.Other sporting achievements inside and away from school, andany representative honours should be recorded in theappropriate sections.

AIMSThe Physical Education Department aims toachieve physical competence and development through avariety of indoor and outdoor activities. We aim to teachstudents through experience, the benefits of exercise, goodhealth and co-operation with others. We aim to developconfidence in artistic and aesthetic skills, as well as helpingstudents to cope with success and failure in competitiveactivities at all levels. We actively encourage students toparticipate in activities outside school and in the community.The students should be able to:OBJECTIVES Be physically active. Be aware of terminology relevant to activities undertakenand engage in activities that involve the whole body. Maintain flexibility and develop strength and endurance.
