Low voltage Motor Control switchboardEurocenter Series GM-MCCThe low voltage motor control GM-MCC switchboards with modular cubicles and drawers, can be equipped withoperating-isolator circuit breakers plus fuse holder bases or boxed type automatic limiter circuit breakers, operatingcontactors, thermal relay and auxiliary control and signalling equipments. Two different versions are available:- GM-MCC/F: with fixed drawer- GM-MCC/E: with removable drawerThanks to drawer modularity it is possible to carry out each low-voltage motor start-up diagram in thewidest range of ratings and to use equipment produced by different manufacturers. As it is also possible to intervene in any motor start-up drawer, on a live switchboard, maximum operatingcontinuity is guaranteed.Another advantage is that the drawers (MCC/E) provided with plug-in pliers and accurate rabbets, can bequickly and easily assembled and replaced, facilitating modifications and future upgrades. It is also possibleto match GM-MCC cubicles with compartment type GM-PC, in those frequent cases where low voltagemotor control switchboards and low voltage distribution switchboards.42

The GM-MCC switchboards can be made by combining the different cubicle types available. Each cubicle typeis a module on its own divided into various cells. Each cubicle type is divided in 3 main areas, separated bymetal elements:• Area 1: cubicle front for circuit breaker or isolator drawers, measuring and/or protection instruments and forauxiliary services. This area can be made with fixed (MCC/F) or removable drawers (MCC/E).• Area 2: right cubicle front for power cables (outputs), auxiliary cables and related accessories. This area issupplied with a closing door for the whole height.• Area 3: cubicle rear for main bus bar system (installed horizontally) and distribution bus bar system(installed vertically).Cubicle structure is self-supporting and can hold the different cells, drawers and components. On the cubicle’sbase and/or roof panel near the cable cell, in accordance with installation requirements, opening are providedfor the passage of power and auxiliary cables coming from outside.TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSTensione nominale di impiego fino a Rated voltage up to v 690Tensione nominale di isolamento fino a Rated insulation voltage up to V 1000Frequenza nominale Rated frequency Hz 50/60Tensione di prova 1 min.-50Hz* circuiti di potenza - fino a* circuiti ausiliari - fino aCorrenti nominali sbarre principaliorizzontali (normalizzate) (1)Correnti nominali sbarre di derivazioneverticali (normalizzate) (1)Correnti ammissibili di breve durata(normalizzate)Test voltage 1 min.-50Hz* power circuits - up to* a u x i l i a r y c i r c u i t s - u p t oVV35002000Rated horizontal main bus barcurrent (standardized) (1) A 800-1250-1600-2000Rated vertical branch bus barcurrent (standardized) (1) A 400-600-800Short-time withstand current(standardized)KA/1s 15-25-35-50Corrente di cresta ammissibile fino a Peak withstand current up to KA 105(i) The rated current of bus bar are referred to a temperature external the switchboard of 40 °C.MAINTENANCE AND CONTINUITY OF SERVICE- Easy inspection (from cubicle front) and easy maintenanceeven with switchboard operating, with elevate safety of personnel.- Reinforced insulation of all live parts minimize the possibilities offailures between phases and to earth.STANDARDS• CEI EN 60439-1• CEI EN 61439-1• CEI EN 61439-2Following onthe next page43

PERSONNEL SAFETYObtained by:• Ground wire of whole switchboard structure (bus bar in copper plate with a normal section of 200 sq mm) andremovable components for all transit of connection and disconnection.• Insulating cut-off automatically activated during the movement of drawers (if removable).• The moves are made from outside the switchboard; it is possible to access to live parts by using some tools or solutionswhich prevent any contact with the live parts.• With drawer disconnected or removed, the protection degree for the part under voltage is IP2X.• Careful selection of insulating materials based on characteristics of high degree of fire proof and low smoke emission.• The separation between the different units prevent the spread of any fire.• All the equipments are easily accessible, by prior removal of drawers (MCC/E), doors and/or panels (MCC/F).METALLIC STRUCTUREMAIN BUS BAR AND BRANCHESThe compartment structure, self-supporting, ismade up of standardized elements in steel sheetwith a minimum thickness of 25/10 mm.The structure elements provided with modular holesare assembled together through joints in steelsheets with electrical points and special screws. On the structure are employed modular drawers(removable or fixed), side and rear bumping panels, front doors, subdivisions and disconnections, support for different cubicles . The minimum thicknessof steel sheet is 15/10 mm.The internal accessories, the supporting panel, bolts and screws are galvanized and passivated. The main bus bar, in copper plate have standardizedsections for rated current of 800-1250-1600-2000 A.They are realized with air insulation and are divided. The support of bus bar is realized with modular supportingstamped in fire proof material, with high mechanicalfeatures, which may support thermal andelectrodynamics resulting from the short circuit current. The main bus bar usually transit from one compartmentto the other in order to form a continuous conduit. The branches are realized as main bus bar andhave standardized sections for rated current 400-600-800 A.The junction area are processed (on request) andsilvered.44
