eplied, “but no running off <strong>and</strong> getting into trouble.”<br />
“Cool,” grinned Max, “that’s really cool, thanks <strong>Burly</strong>.” He turned <strong>and</strong> gave<br />
<strong>Grum</strong> a high five.<br />
“I’ll show you the tunnels that run under the city, they’re fun,” said <strong>Grum</strong>.<br />
“NO!” shouted <strong>Burly</strong> <strong>and</strong> Daffodil together.<br />
<strong>Grum</strong> <strong>and</strong> Max looked taken aback but then started to laugh.<br />
“Okay,” agreed Max, “no tunnels...”<br />
“...this time,” added <strong>Grum</strong> before swiftly changing the subject. “Hey, can we<br />
go on your slide Mike?”<br />
“Does look like fun,” said Grimly.<br />
“You’ve got to try coming down headfir st,” said Max.<br />
“Go on,” said Mike, “you’ve all had a tough day today, you may as well enjoy<br />
yourselves. Daffodil, some more crunchy earwigs?”<br />
“Don’t mind if I do,” replied Daffodil.<br />
“<strong>Burly</strong>? Cake?”<br />
“Thanks Mike, it’s turned out to be a great evening, thank you.”<br />
“My pleasure,” said Mike, “my pleasure.”<br />
“Oh,” said Tyre, “shall I make another pot of tea?”<br />
“Yes please,” said Mike, “that would be nice.”<br />
And so they sat back in their chairs in the golden glow of light <strong>and</strong> watched<br />
as the groblins <strong>and</strong> Max ran around <strong>and</strong> laughed <strong>and</strong> slid down the slide.<br />
“Hold on!” <strong>Grum</strong>’s voice suddenly cut through the air, “no one told me there<br />
were steps at the back!”<br />
<strong>Burly</strong> <strong>and</strong> Mike laughed out loud <strong>and</strong> the evening was perfect.<br />
THE END<br />
PS: For those of you who are worried about the boar locked in the van, Mike did<br />
of course, set him free <strong>and</strong> he trotted safely home to his family!<br />
