NRSG119 Family Nursing I Practicum 2;(0,6)<br />

The focus of this practicum is the application of content from Family Nursing I course<br />

through the demonstration and performance of specific course related nursing skills.<br />

The emphasis is on the utilization of scientific principles and nursing theory and the in<br />

the provision of care for obstetrical clients with uncomplicated health care needs in a<br />

variety of clinical settings in the community. This includes the care of pediatric<br />

clients with health promotion needs and common health problems in a variety of<br />

clinical settings. (Level 1 PN Program) Prerequisites: All first semester Nursing<br />

courses must be successfully completed with a letter grade of “C” or higher.<br />

Corequisites: NRSG115, NRSG116, NRSG118, and NRSG245.<br />

NRSG130 Role Transition - PN 2;(2,0)<br />

(Requirement for students taking PN- NCLEX ) This course provides a basic<br />

introduction to Mental Health concepts and identifies the roles, responsibilities and<br />

scope of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse. (Level 1 PN Program) Prerequisite:<br />

Successful completion of PN Program.<br />

NRSG200 Role Transition – RN 2;(2,0)<br />

(Requirement for practicing LPN’s entering AD program only) This course is designed<br />

to familiarize the student with the mission, philosophy and conceptual framework of<br />

the <strong>Luna</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> nursing program. It also emphasizes concepts of role<br />

transition, responsibilities, and scope of practice for the RN. (Level 2 RN Program)<br />

Prerequisites: All first Level (PN) Nursing courses must be successfully completed<br />

with a letter grade of “C” or higher. Corequisites: NRSG217, NRSG218, and NRSG219.<br />

NRSG201 Spanish for Health Professionals 2;(2,0)<br />

This introductory course is designed to acquaint the student with medical terminology<br />

in Spanish translation. It also assists the student with basic communication skills for<br />

conversing with patients and co-workers through the use scenarios in group activities.<br />

Registration for this course is allowed prior to program admission. (Elective Course)<br />

NRSG202 Geriatric Nursing 2;(2,0)<br />

An elective course designed to prepare students in meeting the challenges of providing<br />

high quality services for older adults. Throughout the course, a positive view of aging<br />

is conveyed with recognition of the individuality of each person. The focus of the<br />

course is promotion of optimal functioning, wellness promotion, and restorative care.<br />
