measure that!) What are some of your favorite smells? What smell reminds you most of:

When I Grow Up…
Today you’ll hear about a guy named David who had the fun job of watching sheep when
he was a kid. That shepherd grew up to be a king, though! Hey, that makes me wonder…
what do you want to be when you grow up? In your Kingdom Crew, talk about who would

Eye Spy
Horses have the largest eyes of any land mammal! Even though your eyes are tiny
compared with Duke’s, open your peepers and see if you can spy these things at
Kingdom Rock VBS:

than your eye
someone sporting a hat
There’s No Palace Like Home
Today you’ll hear about a woman in the
Bible who was picked to be the queen.
She left her regular house and got to
move to the palace. How awesome would
that be? With your Crew, let each person
say the following sentence, filling in the
blanks with words that start with the first
letter of their name:
A horse named JJS Summer
Breeze holds the record for
the longest tail—12 feet and 6
inches! That’s about the same
length of your three smallest
Crew members standing on
each other’s shoulders.
I’m [Name]. My palace would be in [place],
filled with [items], and everyone in my

project—rebuilding a broken-down

city. Whew! We’ve got an easier job
for you today! See if your Crew can
make a “wall” of hugs around three

sometime today. How about making
one around a Station Leader?
We falcons were dying off
because certain chemicals made our
eggshells too thin. But those
chemicals were banned, and now
there are lots of falcons all over the
world. I’m glad someone protected

Stuff to Do…With Your Crew!
Lazy Days of Summer
Lions like to be lazy…a lot! Lions spend about 20 hours a day just hanging around. (At
night, they’re up and at ‘em, hunting for a late-night snack.) What do you spend your days
doing? Tell your Kingdom Crew your top five favorite things to do on a summer day.
But You Can Call Me…
Today you’ll hear about Jesus—God’s very own Son. In the Bible, Jesus actually had lots
of names: Emmanuel (that means “God with us”), Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace,
and Lion of Judah. Do your friends or family members call you a name other than your real
name? Sometimes we call those “nicknames”—they might describe you or be a shorter
way to say your real name.
If you have a nickname, tell your Crew what it is and how you got it. If you don’t have one,
maybe your Crew can come up with a fun or silly nickname for you!

Lions live in big groups
called “prides.” A pride is kind of like
a lion’s family. Who’s in your “pride”?

Smarty Pants
Foxes are known for being resourceful—that means they can figure out a way to get what
they need or solve a problem. For example, a hungry fox will become friends with a dog
or cat in order to share the pet’s food dish. Pretty smart! Speaking of smart, the friends in
your Crew are clever kids. Who would you go to if you…
…wanted to learn about bugs?
…needed to solve a big math problem?
…had to learn a dance?
…wanted to make a spectacular snack?
…wondered how to throw a football?
…had a question about the Bible?
King of the World!
Today you’ll hear about a guy named Josiah who became the king when he was only
8 years old! One of the first things Josiah did was make sure everyone obeyed God’s
laws. Smart kid!
If you became king (or president) tomorrow,
what’s one of the first things you’d do?
Laugh it Up!
It’s your turn!
We’ve seen you laugh.
We’ve seen you make your Crew
Leaders laugh.
We know you’ve got funny inside you! It’s
time to let it OUT!
Tell your best joke, and have your Crew
Leader write it down. Hand your jokes to
the VBS Director sometime during Kingdom
Rock today. The VBS Director will share a few
jokes during Fanfare Finale!
We foxes aren’t picky
eaters. We’ll eat bugs, worms,
and beetles! What’s the weirdest
thing you’ve ever eaten?
