Program (RCP). RCP provided support groups for adults caring for a relative’s<br />
child, support groups for children, educational workshops, tutoring, emergency<br />
financial assistance, (1 time per year). Adult must have primary care and control<br />
of the child through informal family arrangements or through legal custody or<br />
guardianship <strong>–</strong> must be related to the child by blood, marriage, or adoption.<br />

program provides emergency cash assistances for utilities, housing or food. In<br />
order to receive this service, both need and financial eligibility must be<br />
determined. Must be over 60 and must provide proof.<br />
Foster Grandparent Program<br />

Foster Grandparents are recruited and trained to work with special needs children<br />
in their communities. To be eligible, applicants must be 60 years of age and meet<br />
the income guidelines (one person - $14,000). Foster Grandparents volunteer four<br />
hours a day, five days a week. In return, Foster Grandparents receive an annual<br />
free physical examination, a hot meal each day they serve, and transportation to<br />
and from assigned station, if necessary. Foster Grandparents also receive a<br />
regular no-taxable payment of $2.65 per hour, each day they serve. This payment<br />
does not affect Social Security or SSI benefits, food stamps, or public housing.<br />

income level must fall under 150% poverty scale. The household may qualify<br />
based upon any of the following: Families First, SSI, Food Stamps, TennCare,<br />
Public Housing or Low-Income Energy Assistance. To apply, must have proof of<br />
address and may receive it 3 times per year. Distribution center is the National<br />
Guard Armory. This is also a volunteer opportunity.<br />
