Curriculum Enrichment
Foundation Grants for equipment and support for special programs enhanced the quality and diversity
of the educational experience at Peninsula College again this year. We are pleased to have supported the
following programs and projects.
Foundation Grants were awarded to:
Ashland Shakespeare Festival Performance on campus
The Elders Tell Their Stories, Video Oral History Project
Faces of America Diversity Awareness Presentation
Shakespeare Video Collection Purchase
The Writer-in-Residence Program
The Peninsula College Writer-in-Residence program was
launched in 1999, inspired by a generous gift from Gunnar
and Frances Fagerlund. Now in its fourth year, the program
continues through the generosity of others as well, others
whose commitment to supporting creativity in the literary
arts inspires us once again. In 2003 the program welcomed
Robert Michael Pyle (right), award-winning natural history
writer, poet, and ecologist, to the college and community for
a delightful series of workshops, readings, and events.
The program continued in 2004 with award-winning
author Debra Magpie Earling. Earling’s stories have appeared
in Ploughshares, Northeast Indian Quarterly, and in
numerous anthologies. Her first novel, Perma Red, won
critical acclaim nationally.
Facilities
Five capital projects were identified in 2003 for which the
Foundation is currently seeking private or corporate support.
These projects are significant components of the campus
master plan, and it is our hope that they will resonate with
the interests, passions, and aspirations of our generous contributors. We invite you to consider a gift that
will enrich our college and community, now and far into the future. Naming and memorial opprotunities
exist in all areas. Please contact the Foundation for more information.
