Requested $35 million in the statewide 2005-2007 Capital Budget. The request<br />

would fund construction of the new Science and Technology Building,<br />

which is currently in the state’s funding queue. If approved, the<br />

request would also fund the design and construction of a major<br />

library renovation and addition and provide funds for Phase<br />

Two of the planned Cultural Center as well as local<br />

repairs for the campus.<br />

Extension Sites<br />

Peninsula College is dedicated to providing comprehensive<br />

services to everyone in its service district. Our<br />

expanding sites in Forks and Port Townsend demonstrate our<br />

commitment to helping all of the residents of the Olympic<br />

Peninsula to reach their full potential. A few examples of the many<br />

ways we serve the western and eastern most reaches of our district<br />

include:<br />

Forks Extension Site<br />

Offering classes in Neah Bay via Interactive Television.<br />

Offering conversational Spanish in combination with ESL instruction.<br />

Co-locating a Work Source Employment Security Office onsite.<br />

Partnering with the University of Washington Virtual Museum Project by locating a project<br />

manager onsite.<br />

Making it possible to earn an Associate of Arts degree without leaving Forks.<br />

Port Townsend Extension Site<br />

Expanding our business classes for transfer students and community business people.<br />

Founding the Water Street Writers series, a<br />

once-a-month literary reading, open to all<br />

members of the community.<br />

Offering classes in Brinnon.<br />

Tapping community residents to offer a<br />

wide variety of Adult Special Interest<br />

classes.<br />
