Top 40 under 40 winners<br />
Ron Unger, Shauna Hegna and Jon Panamaroff.<br />
Three Koniag, Inc. Shareholders and Descendents were<br />
recognized for their leadership ability at the 35th Annual<br />
Indian Progress in Business Awards event. The Native<br />
American 40 Under 40 recognition highlights 40 existing<br />
and emerging American Indian leaders under 40 years of age<br />
who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in their<br />
business community, Native and/or personal areas of their<br />
life. The Koniag Shareholders earning recognition from the<br />
National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development<br />
are Shauna Hegna, Jon Panamaroff and Ron Unger.<br />
The Native American 40 under 40 Recognition<br />
highlights leaders under 40 years of age who<br />
have demonstrated exceptional achievements<br />
to their business community, Native and/or<br />
personal areas of their life.<br />
Shauna Hegna is the vice president of Shareholder<br />
Services for the Afognak Native Corporation. Along with<br />
her contributions to helping her village corporation achieve<br />
prosperity, Hegna has been instrumental in winning support<br />
for program aimed at preserving the Alutiiq language.<br />
Jon Panamaroff is a project manager with Koniag subsidiary<br />
Koniag Services, Inc. Prior to joining KSI, Panamaroff<br />
was the vice president of Business Development for Native<br />
American Bank, N.A. in Denver, Colo. Panamaroff received<br />
his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern<br />
Washington University. He now serves on the board of the<br />
Koniag Education Foundation.<br />
Ron Unger has served on the Koniag, Inc. Board of<br />
Directors since 2004. Unger is the president and CEO of<br />
WorkSmart Offices, Inc., a leading provider of information<br />
technology services in Durham, N.C. Unger received his<br />
MBA from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.<br />
