Eastleigh Borough Council have just taken delivery
of a FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited MICROPRESS ex
demonstration vehicle, to add to their fleet of ten FAUN
Zoeller (UK) Limited COMBIPRESS vehicles, six FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited ROTOPRESS vehicles and six FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited VARIOPRESS units already in service. Eastleigh
always look beyond purchase price to assess; whole of life
costs, after sales support, product quality, and reliability, to
find a manufacturer that works with them.
The 7.5t MICROPRESS is fitted with a FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited 202.80 Comb Lifter and mounted on an Izuzu N75
Chassis. Ideal for open loading in pedestrian, inner-city and
rural areas, the overall lightweight construction uses high
strength materials, delivering a compact, solid construction
and high Payload of 2.0 tonne. The one-man operated
Micropress avoids the HGV requirement of larger vehicles,

to the strategic alliance between
FAUN & Zoeller in the UK, initiated
in September 2007.
In January 2011, this alliance was further strengthened with
the FAUN group acquiring the shares of both Zoeller Waste
Systems Limited and OTTO Lifts Limited from the Zoeller
group in Germany.
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited, which is now a wholly owned
subsidiary of FAUN in Germany, was formed in April 2011
and operates from two locations, the Head Office and
production facility in Llangefni and the Sales & Service
centre in Redditch. The importance and support from the
FAUN group, and its shareholders, could not be more
evident as was shown in the recent edition of the
Kirchhoff magazine ‘K-Mobil’.
The senior team that is now in place, with a wealth
of experience in the industry, is well equipped to
push the business forward in delivering our goals.

The recent ‘Innovation Days’, which
we held throughout the UK in the
earlier part of last year, were a
huge success and my sincere
thanks go to all that attended.
The new products, in particular, the
ROTOPRESS and EVOPRESS proved
to be of great interest, especially
now that operational efficiencies
and financial benefits have been
proven with actual performance
statistics. Our Demo fleet has now
been increased in size in order to
manage the increased levels of
interest from the market. Further
investment is currently being made
in developing new products that
will be presented later this year...
watch this space!
We are extremely pleased with the
growth in our Contracts & Service
division. Tremendous efforts have been
made with the levels of service and
support for our clients over the last 2
years and in return we have secured
new long term repair and maintenance
contracts over the last six months.
Further expansion of this activity is
anticipated, which is a timely
reflection on our new ideals, clearly
demonstrating how we can, and
should, deal with customer
relationships and levels of
customer service.
Commitment to our people continues
with further investment in our
apprenticeship programme and
training and skills development plan
with all of our staff. Combining
the investment in our people,
infrastructure, products, service
provision plus tremendous support
we get from the FAUN group and
shareholders, puts FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited in great shape.
Despite the current market conditions,
I am excited and very positive about the
future. Personally I am delighted that
group are supporting the UK operation
with considerable investment in both
the product and our people. Yes we
know, as we all do, the challenges that
are ahead of us but we are prepared,
and proud, to be part of this forward
thinking company.

New Narrowpress
The new Narrowpress is now
available for demonstration.
The new narrow Mercedes chassis
launched at the CIWM RWM Show at
the NEC last month. As in the name,
the Narrowpress, at only 2.3m wide is
designed for those tight places where
standard width 2.5m vehicles find it
difficult to access.
Based on the proven design of the
Variopress body and Mercedes chassis,
the Narrowpress comes with DIN bin
lifter interfaces and the option of the
latest FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited fuel
/ CO2 saving E.D.A. system.

Why excellence in
suppliers is the
vehicle to success
When money is too tight to mention local
government looks to innovative solutions from
suppliers says Paul O’Brien, Chief Executive of the
Association for Public Service Excellence.
APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) has been in
local government for the past three decades, we are a
not-for-profit body and are governed by our member local
authorities who own the Association. We are passionate
about local government and our main role is to support
local councils throughout the UK, delivering excellence
in frontline services. But to deliver excellent services local
government also needs reliable and professional suppliers.
Whether supplying eggs and milk to school caterers or
huge multifunctional refuse vehicles to waste services,
suppliers need to be delivering added value to local
councils, and that means quality not just price.
As local councils face cuts of up to 28% in their spending,
with some parts of the UK hit harder than others, suppliers
who are able to respond to the new market conditions
are those that appreciate the dynamics of public service
delivery. When money is too tight to mention that means
innovation and delivering more bang for the public buck.
APSE has a long-standing relationship with FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited. As a major supplier of vehicles to local
councils FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited has always been quick
to recognise that sitting behind the vehicles is a whole
operational dynamic. There are council transport
maintenance teams that keep vehicles on the road. Fuel
purchasing arrangements, where councils are striving to
control, and reduce, fuel costs. Health and safety
considerations, with staff working in often hazardous
conditions that councils need to keep safe, alongside the
public that receive council services. Of course there are also
council finance teams. With tightening fiscal conditions
being able to get more from capital investment in fleet
can make the difference between frontline services getting
new fleet or taking a ‘make do and mend’ approach to
their fleet.
So if money is too tight to mention what kind of innovation
do councils look for? Well certainly, with one eye on the
environment vehicles that can substantially improve fuel
consumption and reduce CO2 emissions are clear winners.
Functionality of vehicles that will help councils respond to
new ways of delivering services, such as improved recycling
services and reducing collections of side waste. Service
transformation remains a key driver in frontline services.
But added ‘social’ value is also a critical factor. We were
therefore delighted that FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited chose
to again support our APSE transport apprentice of the year
awards in 2011, taking the apprentice finalists to the
Bremen production plant in Germany to see the FAUN
Zoeller (UK) Limited state of the art facilities.
The Bremen experience sends a message to those young
apprentices that their skills and dedication to learning a
trade are really valued. I described this years visit to the
plant as a ‘career enhancing opportunity’ for the young
people involved. There was a realisation for these young
people that their role, in keeping vehicles on the road, is a
critical cog in the delivery of public services. But we should
not forget either that suppliers are also a critical cog in
service delivery. In hard times in local government, councils
will be looking to secure reliable suppliers who bring added
innovation and a dynamic of social responsibility to the
table. FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited have led the way in
supporting our young apprentices.

across the UK battled severe weather
to reach Blackpool for the finals of the
APSE (the Association for Public Service
Excellence) performance networks
awards. The awards celebrate
the best performers from local councils
in frontline public services and those
services that have made the most
improvement on performance.
At the APSE national environmental services
seminar held in October 2011, which included the
Environmental Apprentice Awards, it was announced
all the shortlisted apprentices and winner of the
Transport & Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice
Award would be taken to FAUN OHZ to visit the
production facility.
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited sponsored the award for the
APSE Transport & Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice.
This unique programme recognises the contribution of
councils in developing training and apprenticeship schemes.
Promoting excellence in public services, APSE is the
foremost specialist in local authority front line services,
hosting a network for front line service providers in
areas such as waste and refuse collection, parks and
environmental services, leisure, school meals, cleaning,
housing and building maintenance.

MANAGEMENT TEAM
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited, the leading
waste management systems manufacturer,
has made several key appointments to its
senior management team.
Nick Preston has moved into the new post of
Commercial and Marketing Director from the
position of commercial manager and Marshall
Fleming has been promoted from the municipal
manager to the new post of UK Sales Director.
Nick and Marshall will be responsible for
overseeing a wide range of service lines
including expanding sales and the development
of private and public sector contracts in the UK.
In further management changes Matt Buckley
- formerly managing director of OTTO Lifts -
has been made Contracts and Service Director
and Adrian Ward - formerly operations
manager of Zoeller Waste Systems - has been

street cleansing seminar at Aston Villa Football Club.
Street cleansing and street scene services are one of the
most important and highly visible services to the public.
With the demise of NI 195, councils are looking at new
ways of measuring cleanliness and using effective tools to
drive service improvements with scarce resources. Seminar
topics included improving local environmental quality, The
Big society, use of volunteers and community involvement,
the challenges ahead for street scene services, improving
productivity: shift patterns and the use of vehicles.

advise on the Viajet Road Sweeper Range and the external
vehicle exhibition included the Viajet 4 7.5t Road sweeper

WORLD’S FIRST HYBRID RCV
Leading waste management systems manufacturer
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited has launched the world’s
first hybrid electric-diesel refuse collection vehicle in
the UK market.
The Rotopress Dualpower Hybrid can help reduce fuel
consumption by up to a third and features energy saving
technology exclusive to the waste sector which monitors
and manages fuel consumption.
A second auxiliary engine - held within a soundproofed
capsule - significantly reduces the noise created when in
operation in residential areas and allows the vehicle to
function on electricity alone rather than hydraulics.
The vehicle was showcased at a series of innovation days
held by FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited in association with
the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM)
Business Club across the UK in Falkirk, Wigan, London,
Birmingham and Newport.

FAUN TRACKWAY USA
is Up and Running!
On Tuesday 26th July the TRACKWAY team officially
launched FAUN TRACKWAY USA, Inc - a new company
based in Washington DC. The celebrations took place
in the British Embassy in Washington, with over 500
influential members of the DC military and business
community invited.
The event featured three speakers including Peter Luff,
Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology.
The final speaker was The Honorable Togo D. West, Jr.
former Secretary of the US Army and Secretary of Veterans
Affairs under President Clinton. We were extremely
fortunate to have such high profile individuals attend
the event and speak about TRACKWAY products.
Attendees at the event included Randy Babbitt, FAA
Administrator, Col. Anninos, from the Army Corp of
Engineers, and Lt. Com. Monell, Presidential Airlift
Coordinator for the White House. We also had journalists
and editors from influential defence publications including
Aviation Week, Defense News, Defense Daily and Inside the
Air Force. The subsequent media coverage will be very
important in terms of building brand and product
awareness in the US defence industry.
The launch was a very exciting event for FAUN TRACKWAY.
It will give our US business a solid foundation and will aid
our attempt to win orders in North America.

taken delivery of three
new Faun Zoeller (UK) Ltd
Variopress 2 bodies and Lifters
Two of these vehicles are Faun Variopress Two 25m3 bodies with two Zoeller Split
Automatic Rotary Lifters mounted onto two 32000kg 8x4 Mercedes Benz Econics.
The third one is a Faun Variopress Two 20m3 bodies and also a Zoeller Rotary lifter
which is mounted onto a 26000kg 6x2 rear steer Mercedes Benz Econic chassis.
The bodies and lifter have settled in so well they have just ordered two more 22m3 bodies
and Rotary Lifter is time to be mounted on two Scania 6x2 rear steers.
Otto Lifts selected to help Newham
clean up ready for 2012 Olympics’
L.B. of Newham have purchased 26 new Otto Lifts
after extensive trials over a 2 year period.
Otto’s unique features of reduced overhang and clean
lifting, emptying, of wheeled bin containers.
All this linked with its reliability, ease of maintenance for
Dave Stevens and his service staff, and user friendliness of
the “vertical lift action” for the crew’s doing the work
Once again Otto came out on top. Supplying 26 new lifters
on highly maneuverable rear steer refuse collection vehicles,
that Dave Humphries needs to get round all the tight spots
and parked cars to complete the days work.
With the spotlight on East London for ‘2012’ the London
Borough of Newham wanted to make sure that the waste is
collected efficiently and cleanly for this most prestige’s event
and beyond, Otto can do just that!

Stephenson’s College,
Coalville, Leicestershire
Following the success of last years training courses
for the 3rd Year Apprentices at Coalville College. Phil
Roberts, Corporate Account Manager, decided that
this would become an annual event. FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited truly believes in helping apprentices
wherever and whenever they can. Trainees from
Veolia, Sita, Grundon & Biffa were in attendance.
All of the apprentices enjoyed the course and appreciated
the time we gave them over the 3 days.
The course tutor Mr Gordon Cromwell believes it is a real
benefit for the apprentices to listen to and speak with
people from the industry as well as the valuable
training given.
Day one was a classroom presentation on the industry they
were joining, varying waste strategies and an overview of
the waste collection equipment on the market.
Day two was hands on training on the FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited Rotary bin lifter; the students were given operator
and fault finding training on one of the FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited demonstration units.
Day three was again hands on in the workshop. The
apprentices were trained on the FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited
Variopress 2 body which included operator, hydraulic and
electrics training.
EDA Fuel Saving Device
The Eco Drive Assistant (EDA) is an electronic control
device designed to reduce fuel consumption by
optimizing driving for ‘stop/start’ refuse collection
driving cycles.
The EDA keeps the engine in the optimal torque zone
by supervising the gear change timing and effectively
removing the “heavy right foot” syndrome.
The EDA reduces stress on the engine and leads to fuel
consumption reduction in domestic collection rounds of
up to 20.6%.

Norfolk Fleet
The recent order roll out for the Kier North Norfolk
contract was off to a flying start with Mercedes,
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited & Otto equipment
delivered right first time and on time.
On site to ensure everything ran smoothly were Roland

mobilisation and delivery process was successfully provided
by all involved at FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited.
Kier Street Services Divisional Manager Paul Flight said
“We are excited about this contract. The importance of
selecting the right vehicles and the right maintenance
partner cannot be underestimated and we welcome the
opportunity to work with FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited“.
The contract, worth over £4,000,000, also includes the
provision of a full repair and maintenance provision
supplied by FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited.
Two further orders have been placed by Kier on FAUN
Zoeller (UK) Limited for the East Northants and Waltham
Forest contracts. The East Northants contract involves the
provision of Mercedes FAUN food pod vehicles fitted with
Otto bin lifts. The Waltham Forest contract involves the
new twin pack Selectapress with separate hoppers.

OTTO Production
at Llangefni
The acquisition of OTTO Lifts Limited has already
proved to be a great success for the company. The
demand and order book is very strong, with the
actual product range complimenting the existing
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited portfolio. Our facility in
Llangefni is now home to the new production and
assembly line of all the OTTO product range, giving
the company greater flexibility in demand and
reaction time for our customers.
Investment has been made in specialist jigs, toolings,
painting and training for all the production personnel
at Llangefni, which was previously dedicated to the
installation of refuse bodies on chassis.
With the OTTO product now being manufactured on site,
reductions in delivery times are significant for the FAUN,
OTTO or FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited combination.
“We are delighted with the way the production is
running and the speed at which it was set up and
working,” explains Adrian Ward, Operations Director.
“We are now looking at exporting the product, which is
a true reflection on the quality of build at Llangefni and
our ability at FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited to compete in
the European market.”

REPEAT ORDER
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited are very pleased to
announce that Bath and North East Somerset Council
have recently taken delivery of their two FAUN
Variopress II 15t Refuse Vehicles.
Mounted on a DAF LF55 15t chassis supplied by Imperial
Commercials, the Variopress II Curved 10cu bodies are
fitted with the FAUN Control System which offers all the
benefits customers expect from a state of the art CAN-bus
control system. The vehicles were delivered in February to
replace the existing two FAUN 15t Variopress Vehicles.
In addition, FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited were also successful
in retaining the Vehicle Maintenance Contract at the
Midland Road depot looking after in excess of 30 vehicles.
The council have been using FAUN Bodies for over 5 years.
“We have been using Faun bodies for a number of years
and we’re impressed with the quality and reliability” said
Martin Hellyer, Technical Officer, Environmental Services,
Waste Services at Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Last year Bath and North East Somerset sent approximately
46,000 tonnes of waste to landfill sites. 177,700 people
live there with approximately half living in the City of Bath
making it more densely populated than the rest of the area.
Bath and North East Somerset covers an area of 220
square miles (570 km2), of which two thirds is green belt.
It stretches from the outskirts of Bristol, south into the
Mendip Hills and east to the southern Cotswold Hills
and Wiltshire border. “The FAUN Variopress 15t is great
in towns and copes with the narrow access for the
Waste Collection crews,” said Marshall Fleming,
UK Sales Director.
With 500kg less unladen weight than its predecessor,
the VARIOPRESS I, the VARIOPRESS II is now capable of
handling a much higher payload.

Meet Ben Lord -
Regional Account Manager
Ben Lord joined Zoeller Waste
Systems in September 2007
leaving his position within the
automotive industry. Prior to
this Ben gained a National
Diploma Distinction in Building
Construction, covering a
wide variety of subject from
Architectural Design to Land and
Building Surveying. His interests
include football, mountain
biking, tennis, and all forms
of motorsport.
During his time with our company
Ben has gained a thorough
understanding of account
management in all its forms. He fully
understand the processes involved
from point of sale of the product
through to aftersales and marketing
and the important part this plays in
the long term relationship required by
the UK customer base. By using the
experience he gained in dealing with
large fleet replacements within the
light commercial vehicle sector, he has
been able to migrate to the role of
Regional Account Manager within our
company with some ease.
Ben’s main role within the newly
formed FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited is
Regional Account Manager for
Midlands & North which is an area
covering customers based in the North
West, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and
Leicestershire. Ben deals with
company product ranges to the
Municipal Market sector and assist our
Commercial Department in dealing
with some Private Sector customers
based within his area.
Marshall Fleming - UK Sales Director
says, “Over the last few years Ben has
progressed to become a very good
Regional Account Manager. He is
able to deal with all customer inquires
and aftersales in a professional and
detailed manner. He has become a key
figure within the Municipal Sales Team

LAUNCHES NEW CATALOGUE
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited - the
leading waste management
systems manufacturer - has
released its first brochure since
its formation after the merger of
FAUN and Zoeller in 2011.
The catalogue has been created to
help customers review the products
more easily and it is the first time that
the all company’s products have been
collated in one document.
It includes specification details of each
product as well as detailing what they
can be used for.
Several new products are featured
in the 32-strong range including the
Mini Selectapress 50/50 or 70/30
and the Variopress Dualpower and
Rotopress Dualpower.
The Dualpower vehicles are the
world’s first diesel-electric hybrid RCVs
and can help reduce fuel consumption
by up to a third. The Mini Selectapress
can collect and separate two differing

Limited Innovation Day held at
Villa Park, Birmingham
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited in
conjunction with the CIWM
Business Club organised a series
of Innovation Days one of which
landed at Villa Park in
Birmingham. I was invited to
attend in my capacity as CIWM
Senior Vice President and I must
say that my first thoughts were
why me as I am a landfill man and
RCVs had given me so much grief
in my days as a landfill manager.
Drivers always complaining about
the state of my access roads and
me countering that with landfill
site roads are not the public
highway and that they never
will be.
However putting all of that to one
side I was extremely delighted with
the day and it was a great pleasure
to meet up with Simon Hyde, Chief
Executive Officer of FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited, and his Commercial and
Municipal team. Simon told us that
innovation and new products are a
huge part of FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited’s targeted growth, this
together with the changes they have
made, will undoubtedly place the
company in a better position both
in terms of their market share and
financial performance.
We had the opportunity to view the
half a dozen brand new, or updated
waste handling vehicles on show such
as the CombiPress and SelectaPress
which in themselves are all pretty
tough acts to follow, but the star of
the show had to be the FAUN
Rotopress Dual Power hybrid RCV.

Duncan Angus, Scotland Regional Account Manager,
supplied Aberdeenshire Council with their first FAUN Sweeper in
their fleet. The Viajet 6 Sweeper joins their already large fleet of
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited RCVs.
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited has had the
dual power concept up-and-running
for three years now and is about
to announce the option on the
Variopress as well.
Malcolm Bates who provided the
commentary for the day recalled
driving the prototype in Aachen,
Germany like it was yesterday.
FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited felt that
there is such great potential for this
innovation for the UK market that the
Dual Power vehicle was brought over
to the UK for the first time specifically
for the Innovation Day events.
The highlight of my day was not lunch
as many would expect, although it
was a very good one, but my short
journey in the Rotopress Dual Power
RCV. The quietness when using full
power in electric mode must be heard
or not to be believed.

Limited vehicle
Taylors Industrial Services Limited of Aberdeen have
just taking delivery of their second Faun Zoeller (UK)
Limited vehicle which is a Variopress two 22m3 body
fitted with the Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited Omega
trade Lifter mounted to a Mercedes Benz 6x2 rear
steer chassis.
This vehicle joins Taylors large fleet of vehicles along side
their Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited 33m3 FEL Frontpress.
Perth and Kinross
Council have recently purchased five
Faun Zoeller (UK) Ltd Rotopress bodies
Perth and Kinross Council have just purchased 5 Faun
Zoeller (UK) Limited 25m3 Rotopress Bodies mounted
on Mercedes Benz 32000kg 8x4 Econic chassis to carry
out their Green recycling collection.
“We specifically sourced these vehicles to deal with the
ever increasing volumes of garden and food waste (we
collect it combined from the householders in a 240l bin),
which have come about as people continue to switch on
to recycling and the services we provide. In areas where we
were having to make 3 return trips to the transfer station,
the Rotopress with its 27m3 body on a 32T Econic Chassis
should allow us to reduce this to 2 trips due to the increase
in payload made possible by having no packer/hopper
system in addition to the larger chassis.
An added benefit is the sealed nature of the body as we
had previously had concerns over the ability of traditional
bodies to hold the liquids present when the garden
portion of the collection diminishes in the winter months.
The feedback from the crews has been extremely positive,
with comments on the smoothness and simplicity of the
body operation in comparison with traditional compaction
vehicles. The involvement with Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited,
particularly Duncan Angus and the folk from Anglesey,
throughout the process has been a great bonus as the
vehicles we speced were the first 27m3 bodies to come
over from Germany, which presented novel issues for all
concerned, all of which were addressed professionally and
in a timely manner.
The vehicles have even become a bit of an internet star
with photos being snapped by local transport enthusiasts
and put onto the internet. It is fair to say the strange
cylindrical refuse vehicles are making a strong visual impact
across the area and helping to improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of our garden & food waste collection service,
helping Perth & Kinross Council on the path to becoming a
zero waste society.”

FTA Roadworthiness
award
The Doncaster Service Centre have been awarded the FTA
Roadworthiness award at the SITA Maidenhead compliance awards.
This was achieved by upholding a 100% MOT Pass rate and received no
FTA check points against the workshop.
Chris Downs, Northern Area Contracts Manager proudly picked up the
award on behalf on the Doncaster Service Centre at the presentation
at Maidenhead.

Win 1st Contract with
Kier Street Services
Kier is a leading construction,
development and service group
specialising in building and
civil engineering, support services,
public and private house building,
property development and Private
Finance Initiative (PFI).
Following on from the main contract
award to supply the 16 vehicles, Roland
Taylor, Business Development Manager
& Andy Towns, Fleet Engineering
Manager, carried on the success
and recently FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited were named as the official
winner of Kier Street Services, North
Norfolk Contract.
The main specification of the vehicles
are 26T Merc Econic Chassis fitted
with 22 cubic meter Variopress
bodies, and Otto Lifts, and also
7.5T Mitsubishi Canters with Cage
Tipper bodies.
The North Norfolk Contract, not only
consists of providing 16 vehicles, but
also the Maintenance & Repair of 45
vehicles as part of the service. Another
part of the Contract is to maintain an
assortment of grounds maintenance
equipment and small trailers. FAUN
Zoeller (UK) Limited will be employing
4 extra members of staff that will be
dedicated to working on this contract,
and working on site. This will be 3
mechanics, and also an Administrator.

BIFFA ROLLS OUT
E-DELTA LIFTERS TO
PORTSMOUTH
In September Biffa took delivery of six of our new
Delta Electric lifters. They have since been installed
on some of Biffa’s Dennis Olympus trucks currently
doing the rounds in Portsmouth.
The E-Delta lifts are designed to minimise CO² emissions
and deliver fuel savings at the same time. Since installation
they have been showing positive results with both CO²
levels and fuel consumption significantly reduced.
More than 25 OTTO compacts were also delivered
alongside the E-Delta lifts. The Compacts have a
lightweight design and feature a vertical lift action and
an on-board control system which monitors the amount
of bins collected on a weekly and daily basis.
David Maidman, Operation Director of Biffa, said:
“Reducing our impact on the environment is obviously
a high priority for us and the new E-Delta lifts help us to
manage our clients’ collection rounds more efficiently while
cutting fuel wastage and CO² emissions at the same time.”

Europe’s Finest
We like to be team players here at FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited and used the (slightly) better
weather to indulge in a spot of competitive activity.
For the second year running we entered the Kirchhoff
football competition - a seven-a-side tournament which
took place in Atterdorn, Germany.
A great sporting rivalry was resurrected with FAUN Zoeller
(UK) Limited entering both English and Welsh teams.
Tony ‘The Cat’ Allen emerged as FAUN Zoeller (UK)
Limited Wales’ best candidate for the Ballan d’or whilst
apprentice Charlie Preston and paint shop employee
James Surmon proved that there is a future in England’s
youth players.
Despite our best efforts neither of the home teams won
but hats off to the Polish division of the Kirchhoff group
who were crowned the overall winners.
Spot the birdie!
Last summer has also seen us host our second ever
golf tournament at Abbey Park Golf Club in Redditch
for customers.
A great day was had by all with bacon sandwiches for
breakfast followed by 27 holes of Texas Scramble.
The weather even held out long enough to see someone
hit a bird in a tree (and no that isn’t a golfing term) with
their first shot - you know who you are!
The winners of the day were Andrew Towns from FAUN
Zoeller (UK) Limited, Bob Williams and Chris Halfpenny
from Biffa.
We’re now looking forward to the next sporting
endeavour - although we’re not sure that the wildlife at
Abbey Park Golf club are!

A good performance by
the lads but it appeared
that Pep Guardiola’s
Barcelona had little to
worry about!
