Developer Supports Yabob
And Bilbil Women
WHEN women from all over Papua New
Guinea were scheduled to congregate
in Maprik, East Sepik Province to witness
the PNG Women in Business (PNGWiB)
Foundation launch its Micro Finance Roll Out
Program on July 21, 2011, women in Madang
also planned to attend when they received the
invitation.
The program is under the initiative of Janet
Sape, Founder/President of PNGWiB, the
organization that is advocating empowerment
of rural women into business opportunities at
every level.
Realizing that the launching would encourage
them venturing into business and take
leadership role in traditionally dominated male
society, women from Yabob and Bilbil villages
outside Madang knocked on the doors of
various organization seeking assistance to
attend.
Ramu NiCo decided to assist Mary Selo and
Martha Raikawa, two women leaders heading
the Madang branch of PNGWiB, with roundtrip
ship tickets to the event.
Director and Executive Vice President of
Ramu NiCo Mr. Gu Yuxiang acknowledged
the importance of women from Madang
attending the launching to bring positive
changes to the province, their communities
and immediate families.
“Empowering women in any capacity in
today’s society is directly in-line with Ramu
NiCo’s ambition in promoting gender equality.
This directly complements our ‘One Ramu NiCo,
One Community’ motto”, Mr. Gu said.

Supermarket Deal Signed For
Basamuk Landowners
CHAIRMAN of Raibus Ltd and Basamuk
Enterprises Ltd, Kevin Murray and
Basamuk Landowner Association Chairman
Lima Mullung have welcome an historic
agreement signed on July 12, 2011 in Madang
for a joint venture (JV) business between CVG
(China Victory Group) Holdings (PNG) Ltd and
the landowners of Basamuk.
The agreement paves way for the construction
o f a n e w s u p e r m a r k e t a t B a s a m u k ,
conveniently located for locals to access rather
than travelling to Madang.
Mr Murray and Mr Mullung, who signed the
JV agreement on behalf of the landowners,
described it as a milestone achievement and
the best deal ever for Basamuk landowners
who have waited for a long time.
CVG (PNG) is a Hong Kong firm to enter
into trading, exporting and importing business
while Basamuk Enterprises Ltd as the Basamuk
landowner umbrella company represents the
interest of the landowners in commercial activities.
Mr. Murray said the agreement is very
important for the Rai Coast people who can
have direct benefit instead of travelling to
Madang risking their lives on the sea.
Mr. Mullung thanked the partner and
described the JV agreement as a big
achievement for landowners and guaranteed
their support towards the JV partnership.
Alex Fang, who signed on behalf of CVG
thanked Basamuk Enterprises Ltd for inviting
them and assured that CVG will ensure all
commitments are met, while delivering the
expectation through the partnership.

Gu Yuxiang congratulates both parties
and urged them to work together for
the common benefit in complementing
what Ramu NiCo Project intends to
provide to the local as well as the
provincial economy.
According to the agreement, the
modern supermarket will be fully
funded by the CVG after the parties
incorporate the joint venture company,
CVG Basamuk Supermarket. Basamuk
Enterprises Ltd will repay the loan after
the operation of the supermarket.
Provincial Director of Mines, John Bivi
congratulated the parties on behalf of the
Madang Provincial Government and assured
that the provincial government encourages
such arrangements and supports as it shows a
good example of a responsible investor.
MRA representative in Madang Bidi Gemo
welcome the JV partnership and confirmed that
it has always been the wish of MRA to see such
arrangements to ensure landowners benefit
either directly or indirectly from Ramu Project.
