And Bilbil Women<br />
WHEN women from all over Papua New<br />
Guinea were scheduled to congregate<br />
in Maprik, East Sepik Province to witness<br />
the PNG Women in Business (PNGWiB)<br />
Foundation launch its Micro Finance Roll Out<br />
Program on <strong>Jul</strong>y 21, <strong>2011</strong>, women in Madang<br />
also planned to attend when they received the<br />
invitation.<br />
The program is under the initiative of Janet<br />
Sape, Founder/President of PNGWiB, the<br />
organization that is advocating empowerment<br />
of rural women into business opportunities at<br />
every level.<br />
Realizing that the launching would encourage<br />
them venturing into business and take<br />
leadership role in traditionally dominated male<br />
society, women from Yabob and Bilbil villages<br />
outside Madang knocked on the doors of<br />
various organization seeking assistance to<br />
attend.<br />
Ramu NiCo decided to assist Mary Selo and<br />
Martha Raikawa, two women leaders heading<br />
the Madang branch of PNGWiB, with roundtrip<br />
ship tickets to the event.<br />

Ramu NiCo Mr. Gu Yuxiang acknowledged<br />
the importance of women from Madang<br />
attending the launching to bring positive<br />
changes to the province, their communities<br />
and immediate families.<br />
“Empowering women in any capacity in<br />
today’s society is directly in-line with Ramu<br />
NiCo’s ambition in promoting gender equality.<br />
This directly complements our ‘One Ramu NiCo,<br />
One Community’ motto”, Mr. Gu said.<br />

Supermarket Deal Signed For<br />
Basamuk Landowners<br />
CHAIRMAN of Raibus Ltd and Basamuk<br />
Enterprises Ltd, Kevin Murray and<br />
Basamuk Landowner Association Chairman<br />
Lima Mullung have welcome an historic<br />
agreement signed on <strong>Jul</strong>y 12, <strong>2011</strong> in Madang<br />
for a joint venture (JV) business between CVG<br />
(China Victory Group) Holdings (PNG) Ltd and<br />
the landowners of Basamuk.<br />
The agreement paves way for the construction<br />
o f a n e w s u p e r m a r k e t a t B a s a m u k ,<br />
conveniently located for locals to access rather<br />
than travelling to Madang.<br />
Mr Murray and Mr Mullung, who signed the<br />
JV agreement on behalf of the landowners,<br />
described it as a milestone achievement and<br />
the best deal ever for Basamuk landowners<br />
who have waited for a long time.<br />
CVG (PNG) is a Hong Kong firm to enter<br />
into trading, exporting and importing business<br />
while Basamuk Enterprises Ltd as the Basamuk<br />
landowner umbrella company represents the<br />
interest of the landowners in commercial activities.<br />
Mr. Murray said the agreement is very<br />
important for the Rai Coast people who can<br />
have direct benefit instead of travelling to<br />
Madang risking their lives on the sea.<br />
Mr. Mullung thanked the partner and<br />
described the JV agreement as a big<br />
achievement for landowners and guaranteed<br />
their support towards the JV partnership.<br />
Alex Fang, who signed on behalf of CVG<br />
thanked Basamuk Enterprises Ltd for inviting<br />
them and assured that CVG will ensure all<br />
commitments are met, while delivering the<br />
expectation through the partnership.<br />

Gu Yuxiang congratulates both parties<br />
and urged them to work together for<br />
the common benefit in complementing<br />
what Ramu NiCo Project intends to<br />
provide to the local as well as the<br />
provincial economy.<br />
According to the agreement, the<br />
modern supermarket will be fully<br />
funded by the CVG after the parties<br />
incorporate the joint venture company,<br />
CVG Basamuk Supermarket. Basamuk<br />
Enterprises Ltd will repay the loan after<br />
the operation of the supermarket.<br />
Provincial Director of Mines, John Bivi<br />
congratulated the parties on behalf of the<br />
Madang Provincial Government and assured<br />
that the provincial government encourages<br />
such arrangements and supports as it shows a<br />
good example of a responsible investor.<br />
MRA representative in Madang Bidi Gemo<br />
welcome the JV partnership and confirmed that<br />
it has always been the wish of MRA to see such<br />
arrangements to ensure landowners benefit<br />
either directly or indirectly from Ramu Project.<br />
